    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • We got several talks and pannels from bank of america employees. The first day we got outsourced training regarding the banking industry which was a great introduction to the program. The rest of the days consisted in pannels from employees on the diferent divisions, interactive activities and soft skill training sessions. Lastly, during the evening some online social activities were organised. We got pannels from our two divisions of choice, so different divisions involved different activities.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Firstly, I learnt a lot about the overall financial sector, but also about how the bank works and the Bank of America culture. Being able to get insight into more than one division, I also understood how such a global bank works as all the divisions are interconnected and have common ground. Furthermore, there was a lot of soft skill training regarding the virtual environment, networking, thriving in the future, etc. I also learnt about the future of the investing through a thematic investing session.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • It was really amazing. We got to hear from several people working in the bank, which really helps when you are trying to find your place in the financial services industry. Being able to attend more than one division's insight, you really can reaffirm whether the division you applied for is for you or not. Throughout the spring week, you get to speak to many different people and see what the day to day in their job is like.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture felt really welcoming and quite "flat" compared to other banks. We got to meet many new employees to the company and see how people who just joined the company felt. Furthermore, meeting people who joined the company during coronavirus and talking about the effort their team made to include them and make them feel part of the team even though they had never meet really showed the effort the bank places in creating a good company culture.

  • How would you rate the inclusiveness of the culture?

    Your Impressions

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I quite enjoyed the insight. I liked all the panels, but I wish I got more time with my division of choice, as I got to hear a lot about the general bank and other divisions, but not much about my division of choice. For me this wasn't a good thing because I was set on my division, but I can see this being a really positive aspect for someone who is just entering the financial world not knowing specifically what they want to do.

  • Yes

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Bank of America
  • Prepare your situational examples for the interview, as for me there were no technical questions. Apply as soon as possible in order to be at the top of their list. Although you will probably recieve the invitation for an interview many months later, I believe applying early helps. Try to find the division you are passionate about and convey this during both the video interview and the phone interview, as well as why Bank of America.
