    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • Listening to a collection of speakers virtually. Was structured to involve four or five hour-long sessions per day. Sessions included overviews of investment banking, capital markets, Nomura as a firm, soft skills, and graduate recruitment advice.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I learnt how to better develop and structure my personal and career goals through an informative soft skills session. I learnt how to present more clearly with language and gesture training. I developed my Excel skills through an hour-long specific class.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • This was highly informative. The breadth of the content covered meant we experienced shallow dives into many different areas of the bank. We also were allowed to ask questions to graduate employees on a regular basis, developing understanding.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture came across as industrious, which is unsurprising given the nature of their work, but also somewhat laid-back and not overly manicured and disingenuous like the culture of other banks.

  • How would you rate the inclusiveness of the culture?
  • 5/5

    Your Impressions

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I did enjoy the insight. It was nice to experience both Global Markets and Investment Banking, and it is interesting how many attendees changed their minds on which they would pursue. I would have enjoyed perhaps being linked to a desk to really experience what working at Nomura is like, however this would have bee difficult to do in just four days.

  • 7. Would you recommend Nomura to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Nomura
  • Achieve the highest grades possible. Be genuinely interested in learning more about the business, as in truth most cannot describe what their employees really do.
