The Programme involved an insight into the work and life at DLA Piper. There was a host of speakers from many different stakeholders within the law firm, and they provided an insight into their area of work and what it was like to work at DLA Piper. The Programme was also very engaging and was a very personal experience.

Yes, I have learned and developed new skills. The skills I learned were in relation to drafting documents and giving advice to clients. I had never had the opportunity previously to apply the law in a practical setting and the course helped me to achieve this. I also developed my communication and interpersonal skills during the programme, through engaging with a new network of people.

By broadening my understanding of the business and potential roles available, it made me more assertive in that I knew that a role in a commercial and international law firm was in line with my values. Previously, I was hesitant as to whether I would be suited to a role in law, however, this programme helped me to reaffirm that a future career in law was for me.

What I liked most about DLA Piper was their company culture and the sense of collegiality between all staff members. There was a very positive and friendly atmosphere, and everyone was very approachable and down to earth, and you felt like no question was a silly question.

I thoroughly enjoyed the insight programme. Other insight programmes I had attended felt somewhat like work. However, the atmosphere was so positive and the experience was so fun that I enjoyed attending the programme so much.

I would recommend to a friend to have a CV that stands out from the crowd and that in the cover letter try and really reflect on the true reasons of why they want to apply to DLA Piper, not just the reasons they think the recruiter wants to hear. I would also say to make sure to be prepared and arrive on time to all events and to make the most of the experience.
