Role Description

Participated in a variety of sessions with Graduate Recruitment and employees across the firm from trainee solicitors to partners. The sessions focused on explaining the reality of a career in commercial law as well as helping to enhance employability.

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • The days started off with a welcome from the head of Graduate Recruitment who went out of her way to make us all feel welcome despite it being virtual. Each day there was a trainee spotlight session where a trainee would talk about their journey into commercial law and provide us with tips going forward. There would then be around 2 or 3 main sessions per day covering different topics such as pro bono.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I enhanced my knowledge of how law firms operate and DLA Piper's strategy. The sessions put on by Graduate Recruitment helped me to understand how to perfect applications and do well at Assessment Centres- seeing these from the perspective of recruiters was really helpful.
