    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the virtual experience and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • The Insight Programme aimed to give participants the opportunity to get to know DLA Piper and understand more about how a global commercial law firm works. There were a variety of sessions throughout the programme including a trainee Q and A panel, senior management presentations, application workshops and sessions on Employee Networks, Pro Bono, and the structure of a commercial law firm. There was also the chance to complete a deal simulation.

  • I have learnt and developed a variety of new skills including networking skills, confidence in navigating and participating on a virtual platform, and application skills including how to structure my CV, interview and assessment centre preparation and presentation skills.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • Speakers on the programme gave a valuable insight into DLA Piper from a variety of perspectives including trainees and senior management, support in terms of professional and career development and also the social opportunities available, particularly for trainees. It was made clear the number of opportunities available at DLA Piper is immense including international and client secondments. The potential roles available and next steps including applying for summer internships and graduate programmes were clearly set out by the Graduate Recruitment team.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The atmosphere was very friendly and relaxing - the aim of the whole programme was to enjoy and have fun! The company culture is very down to earth and inclusive, the people are valued as the greatest asset of DLA Piper. Everyone is connected locally in terms of their regional office and across the UK, but also internationally. DLA Piper is one global team, always looking to move forward and evolve.
