    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the virtual experience and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • The insight programme consisted of 3 days via zoom from 10am until 5 pm. Throughout the week there was plenty of opportunities to ask questions to employees of all levels from graduates to directors. We were able to gain knowledge through virtual presentations from many departments within savills. We were also able to connect with other students on the programme. We were split into groups of 10 to create a presentation to share on the final day, this was a fun and interactive way for us to get to know each other and to be involved.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • My confidence this week has definitely improved. Speaking up within the group and presenting on the final day to 100+ students and employees of Savills has been a good experience and a great way for me to reach out of my comfort zone even thought it can seem quite daunting. My listening skills have also been improved over the past few days keeping alert on the calls and listening to different employees about their day to day life at work.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • The insight programme was great in providing a huge deal of information on the business and the many roles within the company. I gained knowledge on parts of the business I was not previously aware of such as the potential to travel, the schemes, the diversity within the business and the support that is widely available to staff. I was also able to gain a wide understanding of the vast range of roles that are available within the industry.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Amazing! listening to the employees, there is a great company culture at Savills. Plenty of social events and support within the company. Employees explained that as Savills has grown they have become a very diverse business which is great to see. They are improving on many diversity factors for example, gender split, currently at Savills there is 52% women 48% men. Savills are also improving the diversity within the company focusing on age, disability and LGBT+ to name a few.

    Your Impressions

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the virtual experience?
  • To a great extent. Although the programme was virtual I still highly enjoyed my experience and would definitely recommend to any one thinking about applying. Hebe and Lara were great hosts, super friendly and very relatable. I was made to feel very welcome and could ask any questions I had. The programme was well thought out and there was a great schedule. A good amount of breaks and presentation time was split with interaction time so it was never boring!

  • 7. Would you recommend Savills to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Savills
  • Show you are passionate about the industry and the business. You don't need to know everything about the industry, you will learn about that on the programme but have a basic understanding and know what you are interested or passionate about. Try to make yourself stand out in your application, show your skills and a bit of personality if you can, this will help you and hopefully the team will find what you talk about interesting.
