    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the virtual experience and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • The programme ran virtually over three days. We were given a range of talks from different departments within Savills each day which gave an overview of what it would be like to work for the business. We were also given plenty of information about the APC, had the opportunity to network with directors and recent grads and also worked in a group to prepare a presentation.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • We developed our presentation skills, worked within a team to achieve a common goal and gained confidence in speaking with a range of different people. I personally feel that I have learned a lot about the property/surveying industry and have a greater understanding of Savills.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • The placement provided a really good insight into Savills as a business and highlighted the number of service lines and the roles available once you have completed the grad scheme. Staff members who gave talks were very passionate about their roles and the company as a whole and this was clear to see.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Staff spoke a lot about the great company culture. The business is making a very big effort to become fully diverse and employ a range of methods to ensure that they recruit people from a wide variety of backgrounds. This was very refreshing to see. The general atmosphere of the placement was friendly, students were engaged and the overall feeling was positive.

    Your Impressions

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the virtual experience?
  • At first, I didn't know what to expect from this experience, particularly as it was held virtually. Overall it exceeded my expectations in terms of enjoyment and it was very well organised. I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in a career in the property industry who is keen to find out more and willing to embrace opportunities.

  • Yes

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Savills
  • Don't dismiss the idea of an insight week, particularly as work experience and placements are hard to come by at the moment. Be yourself and ask questions if you get the opportunity as everyone is really knowledgeable. This is really great for people who are interested in Savills but don't know what area of property they'd like to go into.
