The Role
Not always alot to do, very repetitive tasks at times, I enjoyed it the most when I was really busy with the projects I was given throughout the year, especially when these centred on finance.
Everyone made me feel very valued and welcome- which was a nice change. Although I had some insignificant tasks to do everyone did their best to make me feel an integral part of the team (excluding my manager.)
The manager was frankly the worst aspect of the entire placement, very annoying person with real behavioral issues.
Often asked for things to do, and didn't always get enough to fill my time.
Half and half really- I was placing high value orders, trusted with quite alot of cash, and had access to the general public.
Soft skills have really been developed, and I now have a clear ambition for life after uni.
The Company
Mondays were hectic with a lot of hustle and bustle, and coleagues generating my work load for the week. Unfortunately there were plenty of times when I was in the office almost by myself with little to do.
It was the 4th year of the placement being filled, so I was given plenty of guidance, and knew what was expected of me.
Unfortunately due to budget cuts few training courses were offered, however I took part in any that came up over the year.
Flexi Time
Above 25 days holiday
Never would I work for any council again.
The Culture
Unfortunately everyone was at least 20 years my senior.
If I'd lived and socialised, Stoke is a generally cheap area to live.
I've had good nights out in the past there.
None offered, and no interest shown in these by other colleagues.
