    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the virtual experience and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • The virtual experience was really fun to be apart of and I would say that it really helps people new to Accountancy and Banking because it allows them to know more about it and knowing more about it means that it helps them build their path up to Accountancy/Banking. In the virtual experience, we talked about the different stages to get up to Accountancy and Banking and we also got to talk to some of the people who worked in Barclays Accountant and Banking, and they told us their path and the different courses they chose. We also got to ask questions at the end too.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I think that the new skills I have learnt is knowing how to form my path with Barclays and also what courses I should work on to make it more easier for me to become an accountant. Another skill that I also learnt was which courses are actually better for a person who wants to become an accountant because the current Barclays accountants told everyone what courses they took to become where they are now.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • When I was understanding all about the business and the potential roles that were available within Barclays, I was very amused and excited because I had learnt that there are much more roles within Accountancy and Banking than what I knew. And, now that I had learnt this, it lets me have more options to pick from and it also makes it easier and less stressful to go through your path to Barclays and get a job in Accountancy/Banking.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture is very nice. They had told us that they would normally have different events going on through out the year. But, because of the coronavirus, they haven't been able to have any events other than virtual events which anyone can book through their websites. They also said that they offer accounts for clubs, associations and charities so that would be good for anyone who is starting a small business or a new store.

    Your Impressions

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the virtual experience?
  • I really enjoyed the virtual experience. The reason why I enjoyed it was because I felt like they gave me enough information for me to start thinking more about which way I am heading to become an accountant and it was also very clear what they were talking about as well. Also, it met my expectations really well and I definitely would recommend it to anyone who needs help with their path to Accountancy/Banking.

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Barclays
  • I would say that they should go for it. I also think that this Barclays virtual experience is suitable for ages 15+ because I feel like that's the age most people should start to think about what job they want and what role they want to have in that job. Also, I would say that you should not hesitate to ask any questions while you are in the virtual experience because it is good to ask questions if you want to know more about something or if you are confused.
