During this insight I had the chance to chat directly with a number of J.P. Morgan employees as well as completing coding challenges relating to SQL, Data structures and Object-Oriented Programming followed by reflections on the challenges that I faced. The various workshops held relating to Software Engineering Techniques, Code for Good t and Cybersecurity were no doubt thrilling and challenging yet fun and provided a wonderful insight into the work JPMorgan Chase & Co. does.
I developed my networking skills by having the chance of asking questions and engaging with the presentations, which also resulted in learning plenty of new information abut Cyber Security, best coding practices and general advice regarding working into the Technology department at a financial firm. I discovered new aspects of Object Oriented Programming and got the chance to put them in practice, gained experience with working with new software and got a better sense of what is expected from a future employee.
I was provided with a strong overview of the culture at J.P. Morgan and I feel more confident now about my knowledge. I felt as learning valuable information which will be very useful in the future when applying for either an internship or a graduate role at this company, because we were provided with general advice for this matter.
Everyone was very friendly and eager to answer any questions, the atmosphere was formal yet comfortable and warm, allowing the participants to relax while networking.
I really enjoyed it, there were certain parts which I consider that could have been improved, such as including more small groups sessions where participants can interact more with the employees. Overall, I had a very good time and I consider that I gained valuable skills and information through the presentations and coding challenges.
Do your research and apply early for any position you wish to have. Prepare for the possible tasks associated with the role you are applying for and be confident when assessed.
