  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Data analytics and exploration. Building machine learning modules and refreshing modules for better performance. Communicating data science toolkit insights and processes to technical and non-technical teams. Building toolkits with Natural Language Processing and Neural Networks.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I developed skills in Machine Learning model building and deployment, building data science tools which employs the benefits of machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision and time series analysis & forecasting. I build communication skills through presentations about insights from projects and data science tools. I build extensive knowledge in python, R and SQL programming through using it for specific projects throughout my placement. I developed skills in understanding the business and its data.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, I was introduced to projects real world problems during my first week which helped me start on a good foot towards better understanding the company's business and how to better use the data to answer interesting questions whiles finding new questions to which the answers provided more insights. There was always new projects to be worked on which kept me engaged and learning something new every week.

  • I received guidance and support every week, there were brainstorming sessions and data science community meetings which always provided platforms for anyone to bring forth any issue they may have with a project, code or anything related to data science.

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Everyone at WarnerMedia was welcoming and readily available to provide any help you may need regarding projects and more.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I got the chance to work on projects that were used by other teams and were highly appreciated as it added a way for more insights to be drawn from data. Being a huge movie and comic book fan, working at WarnerMedia is the closest I've ever felt to my favourite tv shows, movies and characters that I've always loved. There were so many opportunities to learn and build my skills as well as socialising!
