    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the virtual experience and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • A week of talks via zoom from a vast range of speakers from within the conservation sector. Each different individual speaker gave about an hour of their time; 30 mins for a talk and approx 30 mins to answer questions. The days talks started at 9pm and ran until 3pm, with an hour lunch break provided.

  • Gained advice and information about various conservation based roles, public engagement, job applications & interviews. Developed virtual group work skills; good communication and work collaboration via online platforms.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • Really interesting and useful to learn about the different routes into and roles within conservation. Very beneficial for me to work out my own career path and alternatives availble that I didn't realise about should things not work out!

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Very friendly and approachable people. Gave appropriate help, advice and guidance when needed. Seemed very willing to go above and beyond to ensure we have successful conservation careers.

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the virtual experience?
  • Thoroughly enjoyed. If it hadn't been online, I would have been unlikely to apply and thus would have missed out on a very valuable opportunity which is going to help in my conservation career.
