Role Description

In this Category Analyst position you’ll grow your FMCG industry knowledge and develop your analytical ability to build stories for our clients that inspire them to make successful decisions using our world class consumer panel data. You’ll be meeting your client contacts, building strong relationships with them to understand and answer their key business questions. To help achieve this we’ll develop and train you to use our tools and solutions to analyse data, develop insight and create presentations that communicate your point of view and recommendations.

    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Creating reports for clients to help them better understand the market they operate in. Building custom presentations, that help deliver data to clients in a way that creates a story of how a product, retailer or market is developing, especially relevant during COVID.


    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Really improved office skills such as Excel and Powerpoint. Also developing more specialist data usage tools and how to present and describe the data. Presentation skills have also been developed as well as more confidence from working in a business environment.

  • Given lots of responsibility from very early on in the placement, dealing directly with clients and working with them to deliver the data and insights that they need.

  • Despite working from home and only being able to travel into the office once the support was very good, build a good network within the team from working with home thanks to regular meetings, which concentrated on more business and more personal things.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Hard to tell as working from home, but everyone seemed to really enjoy their job. The whole team was involved in the training process which meant any issues during the rest of the year were easily solved as all members of the team were approachable.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • Really enjoyed the placement, given a level of responsibility I have never had and the added pressure really pushed me to produce the best work. Also created a far better work ethic to what I had before. Would love to go back.
