Considering the current circumstances, Sara and Georgia at Mace provided a very beneficial and insightful experience. This included: inviting several employees at Mace to inform us of their roles and responsibilities; a virtual site tour; and even interview and CV skills.
The emerging talent team at Mace focused their time on those of us part of the virtual experience in small groups and individually, on multiple occasions. This made me feel valued by the emerging talent team as they also brought those of us part of the experience together through the events and activities they planned.
Georgia and Sara at Mace helped create an environment that made me feel comfortable in asking questions when I wanted to know more about a role or unsure of something. Sara and Georgia then organised a mock interview for me with another employee at Mace, who gave me some feedback on how I performed. Sara then followed up with detailed feedback, giving me guiding information on how to be a better candidate.
The workshops and mock interview provided by the emerging talent team at Mace, helped refine my interview skills along with details that employers look for in a candidate applying for a role and their CV. This really stuck with me and I am sure I will carry this information obtained from the experience with me in my later life.
It was clear that Sara and Georgia had planned the week thoroughly as they provided us all with a detailed brochure before the week started, following with a daily brochure with more details in what we should expect for the day. Furthermore, those at Mace organised other employees to come on to the call, with great timing, reinforcing the level of thought put into the structure of the week.
The emerging talent team did everything to create a welcoming but formal atmosphere across the virtual experience. This efficiently replicated the formal and insightful environment that would have taken place if it was not for the current affairs.
Mace showed an interest in my character, and seemed invested in to seeing me get the most from the experience as they provided sessions allocated to improving personal development.
The emerging talent team organised for other employees at Mace to join the call in order to share the daily routine and some of the projects they have worked on so that those of us taking part in the experience could understand their role.
Those that work at Mace, especially the apprentices, shared the work ethic expected from the company but also the guidance received for them to excel and be supported.
The emerging talent team were very understanding of our other possible interests and highlighted the different pathways to obtain a role Mace so we could get a better understanding of which path would be better suited to us.
At the end of the experience, Mace u expectedly gifted everyone a £20 Amazon gift voucher for taking part in the virtual construction week.
Yes, Sara and Georgia invited different employees to describe their role to us and answer our questions each day.
We were able to communicate with the employees on many different occasions, providing many opportunities to ask anything we wanted to know. The emerging talent team also gave us time the communicate amongst ourselves in groups to get to know everyone part of the experience better.
The employees told us about a few of the activities they have done outside of work with each other, like going to dinners, for example. Moreover, they expressed how bonding these events were.
I would recommend the virtual construction week at Mace to anyone looking for a career in the instruction industry. It was extremely insightful and the emerging talent team helped in identifying a specific career path to me.
