The Role
It was an extremely invaluable experience and I am not regretting one bit that I decided to do a placement year. I got involved in many interesting projects.
I got a lot of praise for my work so this gave me a lot of confidence that I was valuable to the company.
I was constantly working together with my mentor or project lead. He answered all of my questions and made sure I understood the task that I was given.
Some days were busier than others. Overall, I was fairly busy and didn't have moments where I didn't have anything to do.
I was given a lot of responsibility during my placement year as there were many systems where I was responsible for specific features of a software system. Furthermore, the company listened to my ideas and I managed to introduce a new mobile development framework.
I feel everything I did during my placement year helped me to become a better professional and I am already using those skills in my dissertation.
The Company
The atmosphere in office was very friendly and everybody was willing to give me a hand if I needed it.
It was organised and it started off with a 4-week training programme.
I got certified as Twilio developer in 2 different categories during my placement year so I think the company did their very best.
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
I think its an exciting company to work with as they are getting very interesting projects.
The Culture
In Zing there was 2 other placement students alongside me.
I was living at home so there was no cost to me.
Not very good but you can always travel to London (30 mins).
There could've been more but I feel the reason why we didn't get to have more events was because of COVID-19.
