    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • This program has been the game-changer of my career. Before attending I did not have a finance background and the insight made me discover a path I am now truly passionate about. It has been an incredible opportunity from various perspectives. Content-wise I received training and support on how J.P. Morgan operates and does business. From a career-wise perspective, I developed a better understanding of the divisions operating within J.P. Morgan and I was given a clear overview and real-life experiences from employees and trainers working at the firm. At most of all I enjoyed the personal growth I went through. I was really inspired by the values and culture of J.P. Morgan and the incredible stories of its employee and I am grateful for having received such an amazing chance.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Although I was only a spring weeker, I felt like I was already part of the company. The sessions were always interactive and structured in a way that you could always intervene and/or ask for clarification. Our opinion mattered and the classes were built around them. By providing us with training and support, the firm really made me feel valued and supported. They acknowledged our potential and put the effort and the resources to make us a great fit to be a future employee.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I am honored I have received so much support during my insight. We were provided with in-depth training during the week and then we were offered additional sessions to get into the specifics of IB and Markets. Content-wise, we had the chance to dive deeper into Finance with the support of the ATM training. Our professor has been incredibly supportive of our questions and was able to give us a bigger picture of a really specific topic in just 90 minutes sessions.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Incredibly is a euphemism. I am currently a penultimate year Bachelor student majoring in Management and I am taking classes such as Financial Mathematics, Financial Accounting, and other management-related topics. However, when we started this school year, I had such a complete overview of how the market works and had developed concrete valuation skills that I had a really easy time tackling this year's courses. Moreover, I believe the skills and the information that I have received goes beyond my degree: it gave me a key to unlock paths that I wouldn't have been able to understand otherwise.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • It was incredibly well structured. Although this year has been full of unexpected turns, JP Morgan has been able to ensure a successful Virtual holding of the Insight Week. The organization was impeccable: on the first day we had an overview of the company and we were given the chance to ask real-time questions to one of the most senior bankers at the company. This was planned in the morning. The following three days (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) were training sessions. We had two sessions of 2 hours approximately, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Finally, on the last day, we were given a conclusive speech from the recruitment team and a bit of insight into the values of the company. The structure of the week seemed seamless to me.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The general atmosphere was a pure challenge. I enjoyed greatly how the employees and the trainers were always stimulating us and pushing us to go beyond. I appreciated so much being around incredibly smart students who build on top of each other's ideas. Everyone was incredibly nice and during the group-work was ready to contribute with quality insights. I enjoyed the general atmosphere greatly and I can't wait to be a part of the firm's team once again.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As I mentioned in a previous question, J.P. Morgan invested greatly in me. We were provided 8 days of training on Financial Modeling, Valuation Techniques (Trading Comparable and DCF), Financial Market Products, and Capital Markets by AMT training. We were also given the chance to receive additional finance training specifically for Investment Banking and Markets. I acquired practical experience in analyzing a company’s financial statements and used different valuation techniques to evaluate the enterprise and equity values.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Significantly. I had the opportunity gain insights in different real-life experiences from these employees and trainers working at the firm. From the panelist post-programing offering on the different divisions of the firm to the Online Academy sessions, I was exposed to the firm’s missions and values and I was helped confirm my motivation to start a career in J.P. Morgan and I truly want to work in this environment. I was specifically captured by Beate’s words during her panel in Investment Banking about how being in the Investment Banking division will allow you to touch upon various and different sectors, giving you the chance to work on different deals and transactions. The dynamics, the competitivity, the thrill, and the ambition is what eventually made me truly want to be a part of this team.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The spring week allowed me to understand fantastically a company culture I absolutely fell for. As previously mentioned, I had the opportunity to gain insights into different real-life experiences from these employees and trainers working at the firm. I was exposed and inspired by the values and culture of J.P. Morgan and the incredible stories of its employee. Specifically, I believe that I am now more aware and sensitive to topics like diversity and inclusion.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • This year has been full of unexpected turns and I was strongly inspired by how Morgan Stanley managed to stay strong, resilient, and well-positioned to support all the stakeholders: starting from us students ensuring the virtual holding of events. After the insight, I realized how being part of the IB team is going to be a crucial experience for me to understand and be exposed to the market dynamics every in a crucial time like this. Furthermore, It will allow me to build and maintain long-lasting relationships with clients and be of support to senior bankers in the financial advisory of clients by craft strategies that will make them grow and innovate, in brief, transform their potential in a time of crisis.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • By having a virtual holding of the spring week we did not incur any costs that could be paid for or reimboursed.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Plenty! We were not only offered the opportunity during the week to talk to senior bankers and representatives of the major division of the firm during the insight, but we were offered extra panels. The week after the insight four panels were scheduled for us to attend and get more insights about the divisions of Investment Banking, Markets, Asset and Wealth Management, and Credit Risk. During these panels, there were plenty of opportunities to meet the employees and network.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • They were great, I had the opportunity to meet a lot of inspiring employees from the firm and get inspired by their incredible stories. They were all very passionate about the firm and the work they do for their clients. Overall we had the opportunity to ask questions during the panels as well as send personal and private messages to the individual employees. This was extremely useful as it helped re-direct the research for the perfect career.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes, it was really interesting to see the life of an employee from home. During the first lockdown, it was strange and difficult for all of us to separate between work and life. I believe the employee gave a great example for us students. They stayed strong, resilient and well positioned. And they shared plenty of activities to do at home when quaranting! Some shared their passion for cooking, other for painting and someone even re-discovered himself drawing.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Absolutely, I have convinced many if not most of my friends to apply for the insights programs but I would say the J.P. Morgan Insight Week holds a special place in my heart. I enjoyed my time there greatly. The opportunities that opens to your career are immense and the experience itself is nothing but a gem in your path. The students participating, the trainers, the recruiters, and the panelists all contributed to make this spring program a fantastic experience I would recommend thousands of times.
