CADP Graduate Analyst Review

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. At first, I was a little nervous about taking part in a virtual internship but the recruitment team did a really good job of ensuring that we had the right training, enjoyable tasks and that we were able to connect to others despite the distance. I particularly enjoyed the speaker series and interacting with my teammates during the final presentations. My managers were wonderful and very supportive throughout the internship.

I felt very valued by colleagues; my teammates inspired me to constantly challenge myself. It was a joy working with them everyday and collaborating on new ideas. I was happy with the positive feedback that I received as well as pointers to improve. Equally, I found my managers and project advisor helpful; they encouraged me to think in new ways and to hone in skills that I personally wanted to improve. Every morning I looked forward to our daily catchups and felt inspired to work on our tasks to the best of my ability.

I was given an invaluable amount of support. My daily team catchups, as well personal one-to-one catchups with my project advisor, gave me the right tools and feedback in order to progress during the internship. Equally, my managers were fantastic in pointing us teammates in the right direction and ensuring that we make the most of our time here. They were very good at directing us to seek different opportunities for training within the company an advising us to speak to the right people to better understand our tasks and experience of working at J.P. Morgan beyond the internship.

I was kept very busy and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Sometimes with internships there is a tendency to worry that you will not be utilised or valued like a normal employee. This was not the case during my internship. I spent most of my days working with my team on tasks and when there was free time, I would make use of the online training available and speak to various graduates and J.P. Morgan employees to gain a better understanding of J.P. Morgan as a whole.

I was surprised by how much responsibility the interns were given. This was particular the case with the Social Good Project in which we helped a local charity to deal with the uncertain times of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was a pleasure to come up with different solutions with my team and to witness the real-life impact of our work. This was by far the most rewarding aspect of the internship. Likewise, the case study project, though more theoretical, felt like our ideas could be taken into consideration in the company.

My internship has definitely improved skills that I have used in my degree. Communication skills are a fundamental example of this. The internship gave me new ways of thinking about how to be clear and concise with my information, and most notably, how to think about audience in determining my message. I am currently finishing my thesis and editing and re-writing my chapters have been helped by my experience at J.P. Morgan.

The atmosphere was very positive considering that we were all communicating virtually. Of course, we were unable to full experience the work culture, however I felt part of the team and valued for my work. The graduates and managers did a great job of making us feel welcome and filling in the gaps about the Edinburgh office.

Very well organised, I cannot fault the overall organisation of the internship. Our schedule was very well structured with lots of opportunities for learning, whilst offering us some freedom to schedule our own time with networking and training. The first couple of weeks were very well organised with lots of training and speaker series. I was also impressed by the social activities that were put together to make sure that we maintained a good work/life balance. I have no complaints!

I was amazed by how much money, time and effort is spent on employees. From the get go I could see that the company values its employees and invests a lot in their personal development. As I mentioned earlier, as interns we were offered the opportunity to work on our understanding of the company, as well as improving our skills for the future. On top of this, speaking to employees and graduates helped me to understand how this training and personal development continue before the internship

Extremely appealing. I am excited to be part of the graduate programme and to continue learning with a company that values me and my potential. On top of this, I was blown away by the effort that has been made with creating speaking events and offering events for the various Business Resources Groups that are available. I cannot wait to begin in July and to immerse myself in the wonderful work culture at the Edinburgh office!

It was quite difficult to maintain a social scene virtually. Nevertheless, I was impressed by the effort that Recruitment and a selection of graduate analysts made in ensuring that we could connect with others. Some events were particularly enjoyable: the escape room, virtual pub quiz, etc.

There were a few virtual gatherings here and there with graduate analysts from the Edinburgh office. There was also a virtual pub quiz which was enjoyable. Other than that, I tried to maintain good contact with the other interns from my office by setting up some post-work catchups.
