    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the virtual experience?
  • I very much enjoyed the Savills virtual insight programme, it was a great opportunity to meet industry professionals and gain knowledge on how Savills works. This also gave us the opportunity to meet some like minded people and network , of which I thoroughly enjoyed. In the future I look to work one day work for Savills and the fact that they offer such high support and education for all their employees really appeals to me.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt very valued at my time at Savills, I was only in the presence of Savills for a day, but there were lots of communications prior to the virtual insight programme and after, they certainly make an effort to enough you are going to attend the event and that they ultimately tried there best to accommodate us face to face , but due to covid they instead organised a very well run open day, we also received lovely emails post event and were encouraged to email any of the employees in the future if we had an questions.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the virtual experience?
  • I received a lot of guidance throughout the event, they certainly fulled the day with knowledge and advice. The virtual insight program has set up in my mind what a day in the life of a Savills employee looks like, I learnt a lot about eat department and that no day is the ‘same’ working at Savills. Like mentioned previously each person that we spoke to further encouraged us to email them to answer any questions or message them on linked in.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills that I developed at Savills were online communication and listening. Being to communicate online , I would argue , is harder then face to face for me personally, but I was able to overcome that somewhat over the day. As well as this , being able to sit and listen and make notes for a lengthy period of time is not easy but definitely something I will value when I’m older. We received a lot of information on the insight day, but what stood out the most was the commitment Savills has to students, they encourage learning in the workplace , offer an amazing graduate scheme where you can learn for your APC whilst gaining industry experience. As well as this we learnt about there new masters programme which really intrigued myself and up until that point I had not considered doing.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the virtual experience?
  • The Savills virtual insight day was very structured, we were given a timetable of all events happening throughout the day, well in advanced of the event, and were kept up to day throughout the day to what and who was presenting next. The event kept to the timescales , whilst still be able to ask all the questions we needed answering by the Savills employees. There were no mistakes or misconceptions about the information we would be learning about during the insight day.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your virtual experience?
  • The general atmosphere during the virtual insight programme was very enjoyable and happy. You definitely got the impression that every student was happy to be participating in the programme and that the Savills employees did not mind making time in there day to speak with us about there job roles and about what it is like working for Savills. [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] made extra effort as host to make us all feel comfortable to ask questions and gain the most out of the day.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I think that Savills did the best that they could considering the circumstances, as originally we would have been placed in an office for 4 weeks so I am sure that they would have heavily changed my life in terms of personal development, but being on the call encouraged me to be the best person I can be as the surveying world I so competitive and in order the be successful you have to try your best.

  • 8. To what extent did the virtual experience help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The Savills virtual insight programme gave a huge insight to what working at Savills is like, when speaking to the employees about roles they had and roles we could have in the company, they were clearly passionate about what Savills has done in there life. Not only this but we were able to speak with such a range of people from different departments and people who had worked there for a year to over 10 years.

  • 9. How much did the virtual experience help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The virtual insight programme very much helped my understanding as to the company culture. Each employee had been involved somewhat in an “out of office” experience, if that be a sport or separate event. Savills also sponsors a lot of event and have given the employees the opportunity to attend and take part in those events. During the virtual event the employees had a common theme of good office moral and the people your work with and other colleagues will be your friends for life.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The content shown to us in the virtual insight event was very helping in contributing to my future pathway, up until this year of university I was set on a career in rural surveying , as I come from a arming background. However the virtual insight programme at Savills has opened my mind up to a plethora of other careers into surveying that I could specialise in. Such as learning about large scale development all across London, not something I would have originally considered if it had not been for the Savills insight programme.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • There were no payments involved in the virtual insight experience.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • During that insight program there were opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company. As previously mentioned each employee encouraged us to contact them with any queries or questions regarding their job roles or generally working in this environment at Savills. This I know would be beneficial for the future as if I end up working for a company like Savills, having those extra connections will really ensure that I do my job to the best of my abilities

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The networking and social aspect of the virtual insight program were very helpful. I think if circumstances were different and we were able to carry out the four weeks on a Savills location the social aspect would be at the forefront of our time at that company, as well would not only be interacting with industry professionals but clients as wel. however, every employee that we spoke to during the event made every effort to speak directly to us and encouraged us to speak to them and ask questions and ensure that we were all happy and understood all information.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • During the Savills insight program we were able to gain knowledge about what the employees get up to outside of work. Information that stood out to me was from the graduate surveyor, he expressed that he joined the Savills football and rugby teams that regularly meet on weekends for training, he expressed that this allowed him to meet more people that worked in the company not just the people he meets every day, which ultimately improved his social interaction and communication skills

  • 15. Would you recommend this virtual experience to a friend?
  • Yes I would recommend the Savills virtual inside program to a friend, I think that it was very insightful and a very valuable experience. the event was well run and set up by Savills and [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions]. I think the event did an amazing job at connecting like minded individuals who are looking to gain information about the property field. As mentioned previously I think they accommodated us to the best of their ability considering the current guidelines surrounding COVID-19.
