    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It was my favourite insight programme that I did this year. It was clear that despite being in a global pandemic, the firm had put significant effort into making a virtual programme that was highly interactive and I think this speaks volumes. I connected with the culture of the firm and thought that everyone was friendly and approachable.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt that myself and the other spring interns were valued during our time as a result of the graduate recruitment team putting together such an interactive programme. There were ample opportunities to ask questions to members of the firm and members of the graduate recruitment team even took time outside the programme schedule hours to answer any queries we had.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I think being allocated a buddy during the programme enabled one to navigate any aspects of the programme that one wasn’t sure about. The graduate recruitment team felt very accessible and as stated above, spent extra time beyond the normal schedule to answer questions that we had. Taking the time to prepare for the programme in advance will mean that the insight will be fairly self-explanatory.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think they will assist me to a great extent. The knowledge of advisory work that one obtains through the presentations to the various skills (presentation, technical, communication etc.) gained through the group project was very useful. Also, one builds soft skills from the networking chats and speaking to our assigned buddy. There were a lot of transferrable skills and information that are vital to a role in any competitive industry and degree.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Very structured, from the morning to close, there was a detailed plan of what we were doing, the links to join virtually, when we had short breaks and when we would be re-convening with our groups for the projects or our buddies. It was well-sequenced and culminated nicely with the group project presentation and tips for the upcoming assessment centre that was helpful.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Very friendly and welcoming, the firm has a smaller, family feel to it which comes across. I think this is very nice as opposed to a large corporate atmosphere. Everyone from the firm that I met was approachable and happy to answer questions. The insight group cohort was eclectic, friendly and not just comprised of people who studied finance.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm organised a 3-hour session with Fitch learning on the first day, introducing us to investment banking which enabled us to learn new concepts.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The networking opportunities and being able to speak with your assigned buddy gave a good understanding of how an FT role differs from the Summer Analyst role.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Very much, despite being in a virtual setting, being able to interact with graduate recruitment and bankers from different areas of the firm was very helpful.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • It was very valuable. We had a thorough overview of the different business lines including areas like Global Advisory and Debt Advisory.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Virtual Programme (COVID-19)

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes. We had two virtual networking sessions. It was for us to schedule time to speak with our buddy outside a couple of sessions that were scheduled. Graduate Recruitment was accessible.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • They were very relaxed and enjoyable. The bankers were friendly and happy to answer any questions we had. The sessions were informative and gave us a great insight into the company culture as well.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes, there was a session devoted to the social impact that the firm has and the areas one can get involved in such as their Skills for Life initiative.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes, it was very enjoyable and you learn a lot. You also get a solid chance to convert it into a summer analyst position if you decide that this career is for you.
