    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed the Work Placement as I felt that my work was highly valued and the team were very supportive. They offered additional training resources when I asked for them and always made themselves available whenever I needed something explaining in person. This really helped me throughout my Internship, although especially when I first started. This led to a very enjoyable experience and I would highly recommend the Internship and my team to others.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • 4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I think I was the perfect balance of busy, and that I still had plenty of time for meeting other people and getting involved in other activities within the business. I also always had time to chat with my colleagues and get to know them in addition to working with them. I believe that this made the day a lot more enjoyable, although I always had enough work to be getting on with as well.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a good amount of responsibility - enough that I felt that my work was valued and added something to the team and not too much that I felt that it was too much. I think a lot of thought goes into the roles so that Interns are able to have enough agency and responsibility over their projects so that they feel that they are able to personally contribute something to its progression.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think I got a good level of insight into working life and this helped me when I was preparing for the transition to the working world. I also really enjoyed seeing the ways things are done in practice and how this compares to the explanations/ methods that I learnt during my degree. I think that overall the Internship provides a high level of transferable skills and that these are very helpful for anyone to have.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was a really pleasant general atmosphere in the office, both within my team and across the different teams. The teams also seemed very willing to help each other out and would often speak to each other. I found the fact that people from different teams spoke to each other and did not only stay within their own team to be a really pleasant part of the job as I got to meet many more people.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I think that the work placement was very well organised and there was a good level of formal training and networking sessions. These events were evenly spread out through the Internship and so there was always time to do the work. I also thought there was a good variety of online and in person training with all the relevant materials. The training was well structured on highly relevant events and never lasted longer than necessary.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I think that the company invested a lot in my training and personal development. I was given a good variety of online and in person training as well as very helpful materials. The training sessions were always for an appropriate amount of time and on useful topics so that I always found them beneficial. My team were also very good at providing additional resources which they thought were helpful and relevant for me to learn from.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I was given lots of opportunities to speak to other employees of the company during structured events as well as informal chats during my own time and all of them said that they thoroughly enjoyed working for the company and that they were very happy with the support and future opportunities that they were given. This made future employment very appealing as they all seemed very satisfied with the company and day to day role.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I really enjoyed the social aspect of the role and found that the other Interns were very keen to get to know each other. We would often go to different places in the local area after work and during weekends. The team also held regular social events and it meant that I had lot's of people to meet. I think that this was quite important as it helped me to feel very welcomed into the firm.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were lots of opportunities to meet other employees outside of the working environment as there were a number of other activities that I could join. These societies put on events very regularly and you could attend as many or as little as you wanted. There was also no limit on the number of societies that you could join. The sports teams were very popular and had a good variety of individual and team options.
