    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed the virtual experience of the internship. It was very helpful in terms of being able to catch up and do my own work. I was able to meet an abundance of new people and network extensively, so that the connections will stay after finishing the internship. I profited from a good insight on Investment Banking and Markets and was given very useful resources to work with. So far it's been very fun!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • As Corona was happening, it wasn't clear whether our internship was going to take place or not. When it indeed got cancelled and instead was adapted to a virtual format, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. However, JP Morgan really put in a lot of work and gave us the attention we felt was appropriate, especially due to the sudden change of circumstances. The quick organisation of the spring weeks and the teacher showed me how much they valued spring interns.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Although the internship was virtual, I felt we did receive a lot of guidance from our instructor. Of course it was like being in a lecture and we were unable to speak unless it was question time, which I thought was a bit sad. Apart from that, the instructor took his time to explain many things that may or may not have been obvious straight away, which really helped myself as an individual non-finance student.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • It definitely taught me the value of analyzing before acting. Always think your steps through and when getting to the point where one has to act upon an issue, a proper analysis and research are your best friend. I was able to profit from the internship in terms of thinking strategy, because as I study a language, our approaches don't always cover everything, unlike in Banking, where covering everything is a need be. Like so, I can combine both fields and have the maximum output in profit.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was very well structured, especially considering the circumstances. In a very short time, they have managed to organise lectures and a lecturer, who was willing to go through the material bit by bit for 3 hours every day of the internship. It was a bit sad that it was only three hours, but it was well worth it and definitely an achievement regarding JP Morgan. We were also introduced to some of the employees which was incredible, as it allowed us to network our way through a little bit.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • It is difficult to assess the atmosphere behind a computer screen, generally, I would say that it was quite relaxed and everyone was very eager to work with each other. This was also true for different tasks and question time, often, other participants would answer questions of other individuals, when the presenter didn't have enough time to explain it all in a very short times slot. On my end, my atmosphere was comfortable but static, as I was quite nervous and I really wanted to excel in order to be fast-tracked.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Not just cancelling the event, but transferring it to a virtual domain, showcased that JP Morgan has great value in its interns and likes to invest in them. They organised the platform, webex, and the firm to hold the trainings with, and it must have cost them a lot of effort and time in order to make our experience as good as it has been. It is rare so see such a big, multinational company to show such big interest in their interns.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Before the insight, I wanted to work with JP Morgan because of it's amazing reputation and all the good things that were said about them. However, after my insight, I wanted to work with JP Morgan because they offer a large range of learning equipment, they value the employee as a person and invest a lot of time and efforts in them. Their culture is very admirable and the employees I have had the pleasure of meeting were very forthcoming and warm.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • It helped me understand in what field of the business I wanted to start my career in. It explained a large range of different things to me and it was quite informative about everything, because it was very well explained and very much well planned from the perspective of JP Morgan. I knew I wanted to go into finance but didn't know where and what to start with, and this spring insight has resolved my problem of being indecisive.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Unfortunately, the opportunities for networking and meeting other employees were kept to a minimum, understandably though, as Corona restricted many and most were in their home office.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • 3/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes, Jp Morgan provided me with various aspects of extra-activites I as an employee could benefit from, such as charity work, volunteering and making challenges in order to raise money for a good cause. This is very important to me as I myself usually get involved in these things and I find it very admirable that JP Morgan actively encourages their employees to go through different procedures of activities in order to do something good and give back.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes definitely.
