    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The insight was very beneficial for me. As a student with a non-finance background, I had the opportunity to learn morea bout the financial industry and its different divisions through various panels from the firm's employees. Moreover, the training offered throughout the programme was helpful and helped me to develop a sound understanding of financial markets, capital markets and the use of Excel in finance. The support was available throughout the program and we even had some post-programme sessions.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • There was a clear communication between the firm and all participants since the offer acceptance date until today when the program has already ended. I really appreciated how J.P. Morgan offered a separate programme for non-finance students as this helped us start from the beginning but also develop the knowledge needed for the industry. We also had different activities and talks by senior managers, which made me feel valued even as a participant in this insight programme.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The special thing about this programme with J.P. Morgan is that the support was not only provided during the programme. The support was well provided before the start of the programme as we had a pre access to the training material during the programme to get in advance. Also, during the programme the support and guidance was unparalleled either through the training staff or J.P. Morgans staff who answered our emails on time and provided to us the right guidance. After the programme, we also got advice to apply for the summer internships.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As I am an applied maths in finance student, my knowledge in finance at the time of this programme was very limited. Therefore, the technical knowledge really helped me and guided me to chose the right modules that I would need for a career in investment banking. Also, the spring panels post programme were helpful for me to identify the division that suits me best as I had the opportunity to hear from people working in these divisions and connect with them.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was very well structured in 3 phases. The first one being pre-programme where we have received more info about J.P. Morgan, a profile book for the class as well as training material. During the spring week, we received more support in terms of technicals as we had daily sessions but we also had talks and panels that helped us learn more about the programme. After the spring week, throughout May and June, we also had additional sessions.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was very encouraging, it was really nice being in such a diverse and global class. I enjoyed networking with many people who came from different countries and universities and today I am friend with many of them. Even the staff was very encouraging and helpful and made us feel comfortable and helped us to address our questions. I really enjoyed being part of this programme and I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in finance.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As mentioned before, as a non-finance student, I have received access to unparalleled training that involved both theory and practise in different real situations in banking. We had a special training firm dedicated to our support and training and they were very good at explaining to us the material. Now, I feel more confident talking about different topics in finance thanks to this programme. What distinguishes this programme from similar ones in other firms, is that non-finance students have a specific programme tailored for them.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The spring week is the first recruitment pipeline for the firm that potentially leads to a summer internship and then a grad role. The spring panels helped me identify the division that suits me best. We had different speakers from Asset Management and Investment Banking among other divisions. These sessions have allowed me to understand the daily tasks of the employees in these divisions and know what I should be expecting as a full time graduate.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • We had different sessions about the history of the firm, its culture and its involvement in various initiatives as part of its CSR programmes. I only enjoyed a talk about the future of the firm that talked about the rising role of technology in banking and how tech is disrupting the industry for a better future. This talk has really inspired me and pushed me to develop tech skills that are key in the future of banking.

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Throughout the panels, we got the chance not only to know about the daily work activities of the bankers but only their involvement in other activities as part of various J.P. Morgan initiatives. Whether you like volunteering, sports or any other activity, you would be able to find a group and organise various activities. In case, you have a special interest and you have not found an initiative about it, you are welcome to start your own one.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would definitely recommend this insight. Whether you are sure that you want to work in finance in the future or whether you are not sure about it, this programme is right for you and would help you identify your interest in banking. Also there are 3 different subprogrammes depending on your background. First, there is the Spring into J.P. Morgan which is normally designed for business/finance students. Then there is the Spring into finance for non-finance and finally the Spring into tech for those interested in technology within banking.
