    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The internship was a fantastic experience. Throughout my time with the team, I got huge exposure to a range of deals in a variety of industries. The team was also very eager to network and share their experiences, which allowed me to develop close relationships and feel like an integral part of the team.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The team made sure that I was fully engaged in as many projects as possible, giving me a huge amount of exposure to the business throughout the internship. The team culture was fantastic, all my colleagues went out of their way to recognise and thank me for my work, which was a strong motivator to continue to learn and deliver throughout the programme.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • One of the things I valued the most about this programme was the organisation and structure of the team. Throughout the programme, I could reach out to my superior to ask for help and guidance at any time. In fact, reaching out for help was not only acceptable, but it was in fact encouraged. This open, collaborative team environment allowed me to adapt to the steep learning curve much better, and feel like a valuable member of the team.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The workload throughout the internship had the perfect balance. The team was really eager to involve me in their projects, which meant I had a lot of work to do throughout the day. I was particularly impressed by the fact that despite the virtual aspect of the internship, I still felt like a valuable member of the team, and my colleagues made an effort to show me how my work was being useful to the execution of the project.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • There was a mutual trust between the team and the interns which meant that if you delivered on your work, your colleagues would give you more responsibility. This was a fantastic opportunity to adapt to the learning curve and be surrounded by a team which encouraged you to step up and take onboard more responsibility.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was incredibly well organised. The teams were eager to get the interns involved in as many projects as possible, and there was a very clear structure outlining the different members of the team, their various responsibilities, and different ways to ask for help.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Rothschild & Co was fantastic at providing us with the training and tools required to be successful during and add value to the team. Given the virtual aspect of the internship due to the pandemic, the company provided interns with a work from home set-up, allowing us to perform at the same level as our colleagues in the office. Moreover, the five day training gave interns the ability to understand their role and how they would add value to the team, which proved to be very useful throughout the internship.
