  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I could not have asked for a better placement in terms of organisation and structure. My manager always had an overall plan for my work and kept me fully informed of how the year would progress. I also had regular meetings with my manager who gave me constructive feedback on my progress and work skills.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Having completed the placement with Nestle, I would find any future employment prospects within its organisation extremely appealing. I felt very honoured to have secured the placement with such a successful company and working for them was a pleasure. I think it would provide excellent future opportunities to develop professionally, and because the whole atmosphere of the Gatwick office was so supportive and friendly, it would be great to work there on a permanent basis.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were plenty of opportunities to socialise with fellow placement students. I joined a tennis club near the office, together with my fellow IT placement student, and attended social events with the department.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I commuted from home until lockdown, after which I was allowed to work from home. Working from home obviously saved me a lot of money that would have been spent on train travel, particularly because I had an hour and a half commute. However, there was a Metro bus service that picked me up from Gatwick and took me directly outside the office. The company provided me with a pre-paid card for that bus service.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Crawley offers a good variety of pubs, restaurants and bars.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are volunteer days, sports activities and social events.
