    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I have thoroughly enjoyed this week at Savills. The team I am in has looked after me and always made sure i have something to do. This means I have learnt a great deal and a lot of experience. Every day I have been doing something different and meeting the other interns has also been great. I have been apart of the Business space property management team, something I knew little about but I feel I am leaving with a lot more knowledge and an interest in the sector.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I feel that throughout my week at savills in the business space property management team, I have felt very valued. I have been introduced to everyone and everyone is making such an effort to make sure I am happy and have work to do. As there are graduates in my team, I have felt very included and valued. Everyone has been extremely friendly and kind this week, which I greatly appreciate during these difficult times.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Throughout my week at Savills I have had a great deal of support. Firstly from the HR team, Hebe gave us a lovely welcoming and introduction to the company. Then onto my team everyone has asked if I'm okay and happy. I feel I could ask anyone in my team for help if I did not understand something. With every task I am given there is guidance on how to do it and no expectations that I should know what to do, which I have really appreciated.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • This week I have learnt so much that will help me in the future. Every task i have done this week has been relevant and will help me next year when completing my degree. The tasks i have completed are also similar to what i would be doing as a graduate, so it has been nice to feel like the work i am doing is relevant. Not only have i learnt from the work but i have also developed my social skills which will help me in the future.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • I think the insight has been very well structured. From when i started on Monday I felt everything has been thought about. We had a lovely welcome breakfast on the first day and a meeting with my line manager. The work i have been given has been well structured and thought about. I also have zoom presentations that have been carefully placed in my timetable so that nothing classes with the work I have been set.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere during my insight has been excellent. Everyone in my office is friendly and approachable. Not only from my team but I have had great fun socialising with the other interns. After work we have met up for drinks, which has been an added bonus. I know if covid was not here, Savills would have put on more social events but the insight week has been great as it is. I couldn't have asked to work for a nicer company for the week.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I think the company and the team I have been working for have really invested in me. Every time they give me work to do it is well structured and explained. Therefore, I have really developed in terms of my knowledge and grown as a person. My team have made sure I have been exposed to different tasks to make sure I had a well rounded experience at Savills. My team have definitely invested a lot of time into me this week.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Savills have been excellent at giving me a realistic view into what life after uni will be like. If I were to work for the company I would definitely know what to expect in terms of the work and the people. I have had a lot of work to do and tasks a graduate would undertake. Therefore, I have really got a good insight into what a full time role would be like at savills.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • I have got a very clear view of what the company culture is like at Savills. Everyone has acted normal around me and shown how nice and genuine everyone is. Everyone is inclusive and the culture is very good. There are a lot of socials and events, which is great as everyone is so friendly. Not only are people nice, it is also clear that everyone works very hard and enjoys what they are doing.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The work I have done this week within the Business space property management team at Savills has been very helpful for my future career. I have done varied tasks which has allowed me to see every aspect of property management. It has helped me realise what I want to go into and what I do not enjoy as much. This is down to the team making sure I am always busy and constantly learning new skills.

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • For this week at Savills, I will be reimbursed for my travel and lunches. This was carefully explained to me after I got the position. And now I am here I know exactly how to be reimbursed. I understand that for a weeks work experience they can not pay us but I think it is kind of them to reimburse our travel and lunch expenses. I have been very pleased with how organised everything has been.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • With the current situation, I understand that savills can not do as many social networking as they probably normally do. However, when we first arrived we had a lovely welcome breakfast. Furthermore, thanks to one of the interns as a group we have organised to meet up after work. Although this hasn't been organised by the company I still feel i have met a great deal of people within my team. I think they have done as much as they can, despite the current situation.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • There were no networking or social opportunities planned by savills but this is due to the current covid situation. However, the socialising opportunities planned by the interns themselves has been great. It has been extremely beneficial meeting others who do my course at other universities and getting to know them. I feel I have improved my social skills this week and every event I have been to i have thoroughly enjoyed. Nothing was awkward and everything was well planned.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • This is the one thing, no one has mentioned really. This might be due to covid and the employees not being able to do the activities currently. I would have like to know what they can do outside of work, so maybe in future this could be mentioned to interns. this would have really allowed me to understand more about the company in a different way and to see how much they care about their employees.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend, if they are already doing property or wanted to go into it. this week has been well planned and I have learnt so much. this week has definitely been the best insight week i have done as i have been so busy and relaxed. there is a great environment at savillls and a very sociable atmosphere. everyone who works here is friendly, making it a great place to work.
