    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my internship - it was a very valuable experience that allowed me to learn a lot. At the same time, it confirmed my initial objective to have a long term career in banking. The programme was also very well structured and allowed me to work on different projects, across staffing, individual and group projects. Overall, I can only recommend this internship to everyone and I hope that Morgan Stanley is able to deliver the same quality to future summer analysts.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I definitely felt valued by my colleagues. To start with my fellow summer analysts, by working in several deliverables with them, we developed a good friendship, translated into positive feedback from their side. Then, the EMEA M&A Team received me very well - everyone was extremely supportive and made me feel part of the team since day one. Moreover, I received frequent feedback from my seniors, which always appreciated my work and helped me improve every day.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I received a lot of guidance, both from my supervisors and the team in general.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was very busy during the internship with staffing, the individual project and the group deliverables. This was positive as it allowed me to learn considerably.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The responsibility given to me during the internship was immense - I worked directly with a senior person on staffing and had the opportunity to present those findings to Executive Directors and Senior Advisors. This was impressive and something that really stood out to me. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to present my individual project to the entire EMEA M&A Team, including several Vice-Presidents and Managing Directors. I believe that this responsibility contributed to my development during the internship.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Having had training every day highly contributed to my learning - I ended the internship with a very complete understanding of the technical aspects of the job, including valuation and accounting. Moreover, the multiple tasks that I had to do during the 8 weeks, allowed me to further expand my knowledge, by applying the theory previously learned directly into current problems. Personally, I believe that these skills will assist me in my future, namely in my next year as an Analyst at Morgan Stanley.
