    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The company went above and beyond to provide a rewarding and beneficial internship for myself and my peers. I learned a lot in the short time and gained valuable skills.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The staff at Morgan Stanley were all extremely welcoming and supported my development. My work was praised regularly by my manager and ED, which I was pleasantly surprised at. Feeling valued by several high levels of management and my direct team really helped my morale and motivated me to do better.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager went above and beyond to support me, as well as my buddy. The system works well have two points of contact in the team directly for yourself as an intern, however the rest of the team were also committed to supporting myself in my internship which truly helped.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Towards the start of the internship I wasn’t very busy, this was due to the delay in setting up systems and ‘finding my feet’ in the company and learning the foundations of my team. However, as the internship progressed I was kept busy with daily tasks and a few projects. It was a good balance.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility on my internship which I really enjoyed. It motivated me and let me see a real insight to what the day to day tasks where within the team as a full time analyst. It also motivated my learning and gained my confidence in my abilities - this improving my performance.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learned a lot of valuable and practical skills from scratch within my internship. For example, I learned how to utilise reporting and analytic systems, as well as learn Microsoft Excel from the beginning and really learn how to use it as a tool within an Analyst role.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Can’t comment as did not work in the office due to remote working

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was set up well. However, due to last minute changes to the structure having to be remote there were some teething issues understandably and we weren’t advised much before the internship on what it would entail.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes the interns all contacted and connected with each other on a regular basis and in our free time we arranged social zooms and remote ‘pub’ quizzes.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I have always lived in Glasgow so with the office being in Glasgow too there was no difference or effect to this than my normal cost of living. I did save money though from remote working.
