  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed this insight! I felt like I really expanded on my knowledge and skills of the specific area where I was working. I feel like the experience I have gained during this four week insight visit will definitely benefit me in my future career. I have also built up my confidence a lot. In the four short weeks I was there, I became really comfortable and familiar with the working day and when it was time to leave, I didn't want to go!

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • When I first began my insight, I had a very thorough orientation and was shown where everything was and was told the routine of different staff members throughout the day, as well as what I would be responsible for doing. Each shift I would be told where I would be working for the day and I would be given the appropriate amount of support and guidance. If I was asked to do something I had not done before, I was given plenty of support to be able to do it.

  • I found all of the staff I came into contact with on my insight really friendly and willing to help, which definitely contributed to making the atmosphere a really positive one! The work atmosphere was very positive and I felt comfortable and supported at all stages of my insight. • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • In terms of personal training and development, I would say the company really invested in me. Different members of staff took time out of their day to support my learning and I felt really appreciated, especially as a student only there for a short amount of time! No questions were too silly and any quesitons I had, staff were happy to answer and anything we did together, they checked my understanding to make sure I understood why we did what we did.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The insight really helped me to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company. Once I have finished my degree and qualified as a nurse, if I were to get a job in this setting I feel like I have a really good idea of what this owuld involve. I got to see what the routine of a nurse working in this area consists of, on morning, afternoon, long days or night shifts.

  • I felt like the insight really did help me in understand the company culture. In the work setting, the different members of staff really collaborated and worked well together, respecting their different strengths and weaknesses. The whole team were really friendly and they seemed to have a really positive work culture. This is the kind of team I would definitely like to be a part of in the future! No matter their role, different members of staff were happy to listen to different opinions to their own and respect every other member of the tea mand their thoughts before making any decisions.

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • No, I was not paid or reimbursed expenses for this experience. I did not have the opportunity to be paid. Expenses such as travel allowance and accommodation allowance would have been reimbured if the trip exceeded my usual mileage from my house to university. However, as this workplace was closer to my house than my university campus, I was not able to have my expenses reimbursed. I did not mind this though as I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here!

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes, there were lots of different opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company during this insight visit. I met and worked with plenty of different members of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) during my time there and gained an in depth understanding of what their different job roles consist of. I worked with health care assistants (HCAS), nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists and many more members of the team that work there.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • I networked with lots of different members of staff and everyone seemed interested to know who I was and what I would like to do in the future. At the end of my insight visit, one of the sisters who I worked with quite a lot during my time there said that once I have finished my degree and am a qualified nurse, they would love me! This was lovely to hear and if I go back in the future, I am sure they will all remember me,

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes, I found out quite a bit about the different activites that employees can get involved in outside of work. This information is signposted across the offices and breakrooms and it seems like there are a wide range of opportunities available to employees. I feel like if I enquired about all the different activites available to employees outside of work, I would be given even more information than what was already signposted to me and what we happened to come across in conversation.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes, I would 100% recommend this insight visit to a friend! The knowledge, skills and experience I have gained during this insight visit are invaluable! In the short space of four weeks, I felt like I have learnt so much and have really gotten to know the daily routine, as well as the patients I worked with and the different members of staff. Each day while I was working here was different and no two days were the same!
