    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed the placement. Everyone was friendly and informative, and I got a lot out of the experience. The only downside was that it was virtual, so the experience was limited.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt valued as my work was often featured in group calls and documents, but did also feel like I could have been integrated slightly more. This would have been easier had there been another 3 weeks of the internship.

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Very good support and guidance, with exceptional support from HR.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Most of the time I felt fairly occupied. Even when I didn't have an individual task there was a chance to speak to someone in a different team and gain some insight. Only felt a little bored at the very end.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I had a fair amount of responsibility that I felt comfortable with. I was happy with the balance between listening and learning versus actual hands on work.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I definitely developed my skills in finance, excel and virtual communication in a work environment. Although I am not a finance student, I will definitely take these skills forward in my degree.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing- it was a pleasure to intern at M&G for 5 weeks and all of the permanent employees appear extremely well-rounded and happy.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • As good as possible given it was a virtual internship and many of us lived very far away from one another.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • 3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • London has an excellent nightlife but given COVID-19 I remained at home.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • We were given insight to the sports clubs and informal chat rooms.
