  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Having access to the Bloomberg Terminal as well as the ability to complete the Bloomberg Market Concepts course was very valuable. Having access to the Bloomberg Market Concepts course means you are able to develop your economic knowledge, especially useful if you do not come from an economics or finance background. This knowledge is then developed further with access to the terminal as well as activities which require terminal use. This means the finance knowledge you have developed can then be combined with your knowledge of Bloomberg.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • There were many sessions with employees in many different parts of the company in Analytics & Sales in addition to Global data. Hearing from interns, Team Leaders as well as higher level management was particularly useful since it gave a great insight into how your career my develop within Bloomberg. There were also many panel sessions with the employees with plenty of opportunity to ask any type of question ranging from "What is the most difficult project you have worked on?" to "Where do you like to eat for lunch?"

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • We had sessions on Bloomberg communities, Bloomberg Philanthropies and just general Q&A sessions with management which were very useful in aiding us in understanding company culture. Bloomberg Philanthropies particularly stood out to me as philanthropic work is something that I am very interested. When working in a financial setting it is important to know that you can also play a part in benefiting society in other ways. Having the opportunity to take time off work and help others is amazing.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Having sessions on the various parts of Analytics & Sales and Global Data is great as it can help you understand for sure whether the path you are looking into is right for you or if there are other options that you may not have thought about. It can be a bit tiresome if you know 100% you are interested in Global Data or definitely interested in Analytics & Sales and don't care to hear about the entry to the other career path.

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • We were given an Amazon voucher and there were many other goodies and prizes to be won along the way for those who were extra motivated, did particularly well or just paid attention enough to be able to answer the quizzes efficiently! I did not expect payment as this is often not the norm for insight weeks especially since it was virtual and the opportunity was given to so many of us. We also had access to the terminal and Bloomberg Market Concepts for free !

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were opportunities to ask plenty of questions to various employees especially those during the panel. Many of the panelists throughout the week were open to questions throughout their session and allowed us to ask questions in the chat and would spend the majority of the time asking questions. We were also encouraged to reach out to employees via Instant Bloomberg on the Terminal if we had any questions that were unanswered or just wanted to find out more about an employee.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • There were social events at the beginning of the week which is particularly commendable since the whole week was done virtually. This was nice since we did not have the opportunity to talk to each other at times that we normally would have been able such as during lunch breaks in real life. The activities that they gave us were really engaging and helped break the ice as well as helping us to talk to others in the programme not a part of our group.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Hearing a talk from Bloomberg Philanthropies allowed us to find out about the charitable activities that employees are able to participate in outside of work as well as during work hours. As someone who finds charitable work to be an important part of my life this was amazing to hear! We also were able to find out about sports and other community activities that the company organises and encourages employees to participate in to generate a sense of community.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • If I had a friend interested in finance, sales, data or computer science I would 100% recommend them to participate in the insight to not only see if Bloomberg and the way they run their company is right for them but also to see if elements of finance or data analysis is for them since there is opportunity to look into this via asking employees or using the skills learnt during the creation of the project.
