    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The insight was super enjoyable because the people were just so friendly. From the management people to the interns we met, everyone was super nice and interesting which made the insight a joy to be a part of. I particularly found the team-building exercises and the interactive exercises the most enjoyable as it trained us so much! By the end of the week, you feel like you have improved your knowledge so much - that was the most enjoyable part.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I cannot emphasise this enough, Bloomberg truly has a flat structure and you will feel this during your insight. Everyone, even the more senior people that speak, offer to be contacted by you so you can ask them for absolutely any advice you want. It is also evident that Bloomberg puts a massive amount of work into making the week super worthwhile and the schedule is quite packed(!) - this made us Insight interns feel so valued to be receiving this investment in us :)

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • We received so much support in so many different ways. Every day we had designated times for Q&A which was a safe space to ask questions about EVERYTHING - from advice concerning our presentations to insights about the inner workings within Bloomberg! We participated in so many presentations throughout the week and this was perfect in guiding us towards the different roles within Bloomberg and paths within Bloomberg (there are so many) - which was massively helpful

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As an Economics student with a heavy concentration in Finance, the skills that I developed this week in terms of using the Terminal will absolutely, without-a-doubt assist me going forwards. Now I can use the Terminal in the library without looking like a klutz and I can help out in equity research for the student business societies I am a part of! Becoming more skilled in the Terminal will 100% bode well for anyone interested in a future somewhere in the Finance industry.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was SO well structured! Seriously, I don't know how the team pulled it off. We had so many activities lined up throughout the day from 8:30 - 18:00 so it must have been difficult but everything went more or less smoothly. There was an instance when one of the presenters had to present early because of a commitment later - the team restructured the plans for the day quickly and everything went seamlessly!

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The environment was very friendly and supportive, and this was developed through fun team building exercises that we did outside of our insight hours! It was also completely evident that everyone was engaged - everytime there was a presentation the presenter would get somewhere around 50 questions! The other Insight interns were also super nice and cordial - everyone made sure that they didn't interrupt anyone else asking questions so the environment didnt become a competitive one.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Massively. I mentioned this briefly in how much the firm values you and you could feel this through how much the firm invested in you. I heard about this opportunity last year through HR who mentioned how much this opportunity was an investment into the people participating and this was definitely the case. It was a full packed week of learning - through interactive exercises, simulations, and presentations from people from all different parts of the firm.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Hugely as well! We were allowed to pretty much ask all different types of questions (I'd pretty much run out of questions by the 3rd day) so all the Insight interns knew perfectly well what a full-time role entails within different departments and even sub-departments as well inside information into how internal progression within the firm works! We also learnt about the internal communities within Bloomberg and the measures that it takes to support its employees

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • I think that everyone understood the company culture before they participated in the week but the presentations throughout the week really drove this understanding home and showed that the core values aren't just mentioned - they're really applied! Company culture is super important in your decision of where to work so it's super nice that this insight went so in-depth into this. Best of Bloomberg is the philanthrophic arm of Bloomberg and we had a full presentation just about that!

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • We were presented on different roles within the Financial industry, ranging from the buy-side to the sell-side! We also went in-depth into the roles of analysts within either side and what Bloomberg Terminal functions they use, so anyone wanting to go into either of those roles would be more knowledgeable regarding their decision. We were also given soo much insight into what a career path can be within Bloomberg so we had completely learned everything :)

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Typically, Bloomberg reimburses expenses relating to the Insight week if it is held in-house. My insight was virtually based so there was no need for this! Even though I'm annoyed that I missed out on all of the pantry snacks, this virtual insight allowed us all to win prizes based on the various exercises/quizzes throughout the week that were super generous! This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions even got the nickname of "Oprah" from us because of all the prizes given out :)

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • We have had exposure to more than 30 people within the firm across every division! From Global Data specialists to Sales people to ADSK workers to news workers to Engineers, we got to hear from absolutely everyone and what they do. We were even allowed to ask questions to a management panel for 2 hours that must have been super busy so the people within Bloomberg are so generous with their time - this makes you feel so valued

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The networking/social event opportunities were very insightful because of the sheer amount of interns that we got to speak to - everyone had opportunities to ask questions! Not only that, everyone that we networked with was available to be contacted over IB (instant Bloomberg) afterwards so any questions that you might have forgotten could be asked afterwards :) Further, the team invested in an external team-building exercise for us which was so fun and helped us all get to know each other!

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes! We had a whole presentation dedicated to B o B - Best of Bloomberg which is about the philanthropic efforts that employees can get involved with! Employees have sooo many opportunities to do volunteering with their colleagues and they log their hours - Bloomberg allows them to donate to charities based on this! Also, we found out about the multiple sports teams at Bloomberg and the diversity and inclusion efforts that employees can get involved with

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would absolutely recommend this insight to a friend. Not just a friend who studies in Finance/Economics/blah blah blah but anyone with an interest in finance! Not only is the Bloomberg brand so powerful on your CV, this insight also makes the transition to a summer internship so much easier! The amount you learn on this week is incredible and it's balanced with a huge amount of fun - I can't recommend applying more :)
