About You
Amex ensured to provide a brilliantly impactful experience despite it being virtual, and whilst it was definitely a shame not to be in the office, I still really enjoyed my 6 weeks and learned so much.
Despite not being in the office physically surrounded by others, my team and wider members of Amex made sure to take the time to get to know me and support me throughout my internship.
My line manager was fantastic at providing me with the support I needed every step of the way despite being at a distance in the virtual environment. Everyone that I met at my time at American Express was so approachable and constantly offering their support and time.
Coming from a non-finance background, I found the internship an amazingly well structured, supported and encouraging learning curve, experience, and foot into the finance world.
The Company
The internship, particularly considering the virtual circumstances, was brilliantly structured and planned out, giving a very impactful experience.
I thoroughly enjoyed the culture of the company, and one of the best parts was meeting so many talented and driven people and learning about their career journeys.
Amex I think gave the best possible insight into working at the company considering that we weren't able to go into the office, although a virtual experience is never going to be a true representation of office work life.
Throughout the six weeks there was a lot of emphasis on the company culture, which is definitely a culture I would love to work in.
Everything Else
Despite being a virtual experience, there was a lot of encouragement to network and reach out to people, which was also pretty much always well received. I would have liked to have done this more, which I know would have been easier had we been able to go into the office.
I would 100% recommend this virtual experience. I have really enjoyed my summer at American Express which has flown by. I have learned so much and loved seeing my own progress, while also gaining such valuable experience and meeting so many great people.
