    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the virtual experience?
  • I enjoyed the virtual experience a great deal. I felt like I was learning a lot and the program was quite busy but not overly demanding, and I learned a lot. It was very interactive and fun and I tried things I wouldn’t have otherwise. I enjoyed participating in the workshops and asking questions and I felt a real sense of fulfilment at the end since we had learned a great deal in a short span of time.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt that all the workshop leaders and team were very encouraging and accommodating to the students and did their best to bring us a virtual programme to make up for the experience we were missing out on. I definitely felt valued as the team obviously worked very hard to prepare something for the interns, and I know there are several companies who simply cancelled their programmes due to COVID-19 and I was grateful that this was not the case here.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the virtual experience?
  • The Deutsche Bank team were always available and eager to answer questions and interact with students. I felt very supported and knew that I could ask a question at any time if I wished to. They gave lots of advice during the sessions and at the end of the programme so I feel that I received a lot of support from them. If we had worked on some kind of project or technical activity I feel that we would’ve had plenty of guidance from the team.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learned a lot from the virtual experience about the technology industry and I feel that this knowledge will help me to be prepared for future internships and jobs. There were some workshops on networking and presenting yourself, but I feel that these were not quite as useful and would’ve been better if replaced with more technical job-focused activities like working on a sample activity that simulates what we might work on during an internship.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the virtual experience?
  • The programme was quite well structured. There were plenty of breaks between sessions, and the sessions themselves were ordered in a logical way so that we kept building on our knowledge over the two days. There was a good breadth of topics covered in that time. No session felt too long, however I feel that sometimes they were too short as occasionally they would run out of time for questions or end up running into a break.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your virtual experience?
  • All the interns were really engaged and the chats during workshops were always full of questions. The team were constantly interacting with us and it was very lively, encouraging atmosphere that made me excited to participate and learn more. It was clear that the Deutsche Bank employees were enthusiastic about the programme and the things they were working on so it created a really fun and enjoyable environment and left a good impression of the company.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

  • 8. To what extent did the virtual experience help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I learned a lot about the company culture and the work that its employees undertake while they work there. The graduates offered a lot of insights into how their roles worked and the more senior staff also had a lot to say about what it was like to work for the bank. Overall I would say that I came away from the programme with a pretty good idea of what working for Deutsche Bank would be like.

  • 9. How much did the virtual experience help you in understanding the company culture?
  • I heard from current employees and graduates who all gave the impression that Deutsche Bank had a very technology-focused and flexible culture. I felt that the company encouraged its employees to work in a range of fields, try new things and continue to develop their skills while at the company. It seemed that they were also relatively flexible when it came to working styles and teams. It also seemed that senior employees were encouraging and supportive of their newer team members.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I learned a lot about the company and the kind of work that its employees undertake while they are there. Hearing from current employees and graduates about their feelings and experiences was useful too. After the programme I was definitely interested in pursuing a career in technology because the work sounds really interesting and it seems like there is a huge range of things I could work on even during the beginning of my career.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were opportunities to hear from current employees and graduates and ask them questions about their work and experiences with Deutsche Bank, and we met with employees from across the bank in a range of positions, but networking opportunities were somewhat limited beyond that. There was a buddy mentor system but I didn’t hear much from my mentor and I never got to meet them during the program. I think the program could benefit from more networking opportunities.

    3/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • I don’t feel that I had much of a chance to network with my peers. It would have been nice to work on some kind of group activity with the other interns to get to know them better. There was a quiz session which was fun and somewhat social but I didn’t feel that I got the chance to adequately network with the other people on the programme. I think this could be improved with more small group activities instead of individual work.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?

  • 15. Would you recommend this virtual experience to a friend?
