    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my year at Pfizer, there were so many opportunities to develop my skills and experience how the pharmaceutical industry functions.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone is super helpful and approachable and you are treated equally i.e your thoughts and opinions are considered like any other.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager was super accessible (could pop him a message through Teams with any questions) and he also forwarded me any interesting communication or company wide projects I could get involved in if I wanted.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was really busy throughout the placement, initially I had to do a lot of training to develop my knowledge about the role and then afterwards I got involved in many projects that were ongoing at the same time. You have flexible working schedule so you can manage your time as preferred.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The responsibility increased as the placement went on and I felt comfortable to do tasks by myself and coherent decisions, however I would always double-check or cc in my project supervisors into communication as I was helping them on their overall project.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I believe the work ethic, and problem solving skills I developed through the placement year will be valuable for the rest of my life. But specifically, the industry knowledge, public speaking/presenting skills and role specific software skills would be very valuable when applying for similar careers as it is not something taught in my current degree.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • We had a open seating policy so there are no assigned seating, hence you can interact with many colleagues and everyone is super nice.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was very well organised we had an early career representative to reach out to as well as HR colleagues for any issues, concerns or questions. All the onboarding and offboarding was hadnled very professionally even with the current issues with the pandemic.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • A lot, I had many opportunities to benefit from. However, it is often up to the individual themselves to seek out or take on as much as they want. Like you can just stick to your role specific tasks or ask to be involved with other initiatives. There are also many online skill development resources that is available to everyone in the organisation.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Working from home

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There are not as many entry level positions and if so they are not very well communicated. There is an opportunity to join the grad scheme but it focuses only on commercial and marketing.

    2/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, everyone got along really well even though we would have been in different departments.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living was reasonably high compared to my university area, it was also in a small town so transport and outside of work amenities were poor.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • n/a

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Not a lot compared to placements based in London or other cities, the office was based rurally in a small English town. But direct train London run regularly and is less than an hour away.
