    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed it, I felt I learnt a lot and everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The company atmosphere was great and they really motivated me to want to work there in the future. They came across as a company that not only wants to create profit but also wants to do good and act morally which i loved. The experience was great and run very well with a variety of fun and interesting activities

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • It was a short experience as it only lasted 2 days but i felt valued due to the small group activities making it more personal as it could have felt very impersonal due to it being online. I however did not create an impact of do anything of value due to it being more of an informative experience over the two days. It however does give me hope that during an internship i would feel valued.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • There was support interms of the purpose workshop was lead by someone from unilever and they aided us through the activity to help us create our purpose statement or begin to think about it further. In addition there was lots of guidance and support about interview skills and cv writing which will be very helpful for the future. I could not gain loads of guidance or support due to it being online and only 2 days but they did a great job with the current situation.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I developed some skills such as empolment skills and also through the purpose workshop i gained a further insight into what i enjoy and what motivates me. These skills will not only help me alot in the future when applying for jobs but also will help me find jobs that i will enjoy and want to do rather than just for the money by making sure they assign with my purpose. As it was only a 2 day event i however could not develop many technical skills.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • It was really well structured. A timetable was created at the start and was sent out in advance with a variety of activities, both Q and As and also small team exercises and competitions. This kept things interesting as well as there being lots of tea breaks to ensure we could get drinks and eat. Everything was on time and prompt. They did a great job organising a great day online with no technical issues.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was great with everyone being very positive and showing how much they enjoyed working at the company. They people around me were open and interested and everyone was very inspiring. During the Q and As the speakers were very up for answering any questions and gave great replies showing how much they cared and were interested and even gave up more time to ensure they had answered everything. It was a very fun experience.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There was no personal training or development needed as the summer internship was postponed and a 2 day online event was instead held. This needed no development and training however the event did make me confident that training and development is a big priority for all employees and during the internship next summer this will be important. They went through the process for summer placement students and it seems training is a large part of it.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The insight gave me an impression of the company and the atmosphere but not loads about what on a day to day level i would be doing. We learnt about the key aspects of each department and heard from graduates who work in each and could ask questions this was great as we could learn more about what others do on a day to day basis within there roles and therefore which department would suit us most.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight really helped me understand the companies culture. Sustainability and acting ethically is a huge part of the company and it really came across through the 2 days with each person speaking giving me motivation that it is not just something the company says to look good but is something every employee believes which was amazing. We did a purpose workshop which helped me understand the culture as this is a huge part of the company.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Yes the content was good at helping me decide my career path. I came to the conclusion i loved the company and would want to work for Unilever or a company like Unilever who strives to do good and not just make profits. It however did not help me loads in exact details as i didn't learn much about the exact career i would be following but as a company i did feel i learnt a lot.

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • It was a 2 day online insight day so did not have any out going costs

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Most people had there video on which made it more personal however there could not be loads of networking as it was done online which made it harder for us but they tried and did a great job. There was also q and as with the employees which allowed us to learn more about them and could meet lots of the people and learn more about them which was very interesting and great to find out more.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would definitely i learn alot and found it very enjoyable and felt i gained lots of experience about the company. As it was only short that also made it easier and nice as i felt i gained alot from a very short experience rather than spending months learning very little. I loved the company and feel everyone would gain alot from the company and the people were great so i would definitely recommend to my friends.
