The Role
It gave me an opportunity to learn a wide range of skills, as well as to understand the different aspects of the organisation. You get to learn about the whole company, and the different divisions that are involved with the business. You get to meet fantastic people that have worked at the firm for some time, and experience great guest speakers that will tell you about their career and struggles. Overall a fantastic experience and I would recommend it to anyone.
From day one you get contacted about who your buddy is and who your mentor is, along with you line manager. This is a great process because it allows you to utilize your buddy and mentor with any work that you might have. Your buddy is usually a first year or second year analyst so its always great to have someone like that when you just start and they know what you are going through.
If you need further support with any work that you are doing, it is always there. But you do have to ask for help, you shouldn't expect all the information being handed to you, you need to ask questions in order to get the answers you need, whether is a project work or increasing your own knowledge about the firm. Overall, you do get a lot of support and supervision on your work and you shouldn't feel scared.
Yes, within your first days you get a lot of work and a lot of sessions added to your calendar. But this is a good thing, when coming into an internship you want to have a busy schedule as you learn more and interact with others. Also, these sessions are there for you to learn new things that you can incorporate into your project further down the line. Overall, the days were busy, but it was balanced-busy.
At the start of your internship you need to listen and shadow your team members as much as you can. This will be really important further down the line when you given your project task. This is when you get responsibility to actually do you own work with the help of you team members. I think there is an adequate amount of responsibility given to yourself which makes the whole internship experience really interesting but challenging.
I think the transferable that I gained from this internship will last. You are put into your team straight away and you begin to learn communication skills, analytical skills and so much more. You definitely enhance your corporate skills and how to behave professionally in a workplace. The training and shadowing give to us from the current workers is next to none, you really go deep into anything that you are learning with you team. Overall you learn life skill, soft skill and transferable skills that will help you going forward.
The Company
The atmosphere is great, I was involved in a virtual internship. Half of the time worked from home the other half worked at the office, at the start this was strange to meet everyone virtually, however you it was actually great to have catch-up meeting with other people at the office. From what I heard each team works closely to each other and desks are together at the office to bring the right amount of teamwork into the picture. Goldman Sachs also one of the best workspace so I would encourage anyone to apply.
The structure of the internship was great. It was the right level of educational series where you learn about Goldmans divisions and talk to other members of different divisions. We also had weekly meetings with our team, going over the tasks for the week and some news updates. You get time for 'coffee catch-ups' and other things that you might want to do. Everything is planned in your calendar and you can see the people you work with calendars to see if you cant catch up or oragnise a shadowing session.

Goldman Sachs is redounded for attracting the brightest and hardest working talent in the financial industry. I think if you show what you bring to the team, you show that you are an optimistic person that looks forward to new challenges and meeting new people, that will only look good on you and will increase you chances of getting a full-time offer at the firm. Overall, if you show you positive side and if you show that you can help the team the chances are in your favour.
The Culture
The cost of living in Warsaw is perfect for the salary that Goldman Sachs provides for you. You will definitely not feel like you don't have enough money to socialise. After all, Warsaw is in top 30 most livable cities in the world, it is also one of the greenest cities with 28% of it being parks. I would recommend Warsaw as its a quickly growing city with a lot of opportunities. So overall, you will be able to do the activities that you are used too!
