    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Great insight into several projects and initiatives. Keeps year interesting and challenging leading to more learnings and increased personal growth. Got given routine tasks as well as ad-hoc projects with quite a decent amount of responsibility, which raises self-esteem and learning opportunities. Company culture is incredibly welcoming, open-minded, encouraging and as a result, really helped me gain confidence in voicing my ideas and opinions and show initiative.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Colleagues were very encouraging and overtly showed appreciation for the work I contributed, no matter how small. They frequently sought my opinion and were always incredibly willing to be helpful when I required support.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The level of support given was very healthy. It allowed me to experiment and figure out my own solutions to tasks and projects by not forcing any suggested work methods/ approaches onto me. However, whenever I needed guidance, it was readily available and very tailored to my chosen approach to a task.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The working days at BMW UK never got boring. There was always something to do and to get involved, in leading to occasional long days at work, which, however, were recognised.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility to the extent that I was managing my own project whilst being able to freely decide on the approach to the task, the desired outcomes, and the way the findings would be presented back to the business.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very pleasant by means of balance between open space and breakout areas. The dress code is not super strict and people are very determined to work hard but also very open to occasional casual chats.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • No issues in terms of the initial set up of my laptop and access to relevant systems. Everyone knew that I was going to be joining the team and were keeping their eyes open for me to get involved into their projects.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There were sporadic performance reviews. There was no active advertising of personal training or development opportunities.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • BMW UK operates in a very fast-changing industry and offers lots of opportunities to rotate within the company to get a better understanding of the business as a whole rather than just one or two departments. In addition, there seem to be lots of opportunities for international placements. All these aspects make a future employment with BMW very appealing.

    4/5
