About You

1. To what extent did you enjoy the virtual experience?

It was an extremely pleasant and informative experience. The internship despite being completely virtual due to COVID-19 was well planned and engaging. During the internship, my manager, buddy and teammates were extremely supportive with any questions as well as with feedback. I was given timely and constructive feedback that was great for learning essential skills and gaining a better understanding of the firm and the project my team was working on. The entire experience was very positive.

2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?

During the entire internship, my manager was extremely supportive and gave me challenging but insightful tasks to complete. My manager would provide me with tasks that I had an interest in and also was informative. I was also pushed to present to senior members of the firm, this helped me to feel extremely valued. The tasks assigned were also directly related to the project and were essential to be completed. This was a great insight into the project.

3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the virtual experience?

During the virtual experience, I received timely and constructive feedback. My manager arranged for a call when explaining or reviewing my work, this was a great opportunity for me to learn from my mistakes. I was also encouraged to ask questions when in doubt and even challenge when I felt something was out of place. All of this greatly helped me to learn from my mistakes. My team was very supportive if I had even the smallest of questions.

4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

My degree and the role I undertook during this internship were very similar. In uni, I am currently studying, Information Management for Business and during this experience, I undertook a role as a Tech-Business Analyst. A lot of my knowledge from university was extremely useful during this experience. At the same time, working in this role exposed me to the industry practices and industrial applications of technology. It was overall a very positive experience that helped me to appreciate the role of technology in the industry.

The overall internship was well structured and crafted. The internship despite being completely virtual due to COVID-19 was well planned and engaging. During the internship, my team was extremely supportive and engaging with any questions as well as with feedback. During the internship, I received timely and constructive feedback, any questions or concerns I had were also addressed very quickly. The HR team was also very supportive and provided essential information and assisted with any queries.

I asked to present to senior members of the firm, this helped me to feel extremely valued. This was a great insight into the project and fimr, and a great learning opportunity for me.

7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

The firm provided me with various talks and workshops led by industry professionals and subject matter experts. I was also given access to various technologies that I was interested in learning more about. Even in the case of a technology that my team was not using, I was encouraged to learn about the technology and was given face time with an industry leader to learn about the technology and even begin using it to help the team.

8. To what extent did the virtual experience help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?

During the internship I was able to work on a project that the team was working on, this exposed me to the working style and content that the team dealt with on a daily basis. I was also given various opportunities to speak with several interns, grads and senior members of the firm to better understand their everyday work. It was a great insight into how my team and the firm operated on a daily basis.

9. How much did the virtual experience help you in understanding the company culture?

Being able to work on a project and with a team that was busy on an important project was a great opportunity to gain valuable insights into the culture of the firm. During the internship I was able to interact with many individuals and team that helped me to understand how the firm worked. It was a great insight into how my team and the firm operated on a daily basis. It was a great insight into the positive work culture.

Having experienced the daily working in the industry and being able to speak to multiple individuals about their daily tasks, I was given a great insight into a career that I would enjoy.

Yes, both the HR team and my manager helped me to reach out and interact with many individuals at the firm.

Yes, despite being virtual there were interesting and fun social events for the interns and industrial placement students to take part in.

15. Would you recommend this virtual experience to a friend?

I would highly recommend this internship to a friend. The internship was informative and engaging. Throughout the internship I was challenged with interesting tasks and I was pushed to expand my knowledge base. The internship was a was also well planned and structured, it allowed to me learn in a safe environment with appropriate feedback and support. The team I was placed in was also very helpful and understanding, they were also supportive of my interests and helped me learn and speak to relevant experts.
