The Role
Tesco did an absolutely brilliant job of creating an insightful, interesting, and challenging virtual programme with very little time due to the pandemic. The work has been challenging at times but there has been a lot of support and everyone is keen to help.
I really have gotten the feeling that Tesco value their people! They’ve given us several opportunities to learn and develop our skills, and also emphasize the importance of our well-being. There are frequent check-ins to make sure everyone is doing well and having a good experience.
All of my supervisors/managers were quick to help if we had a problem/question and checked in with us regularly
The hours were pretty flexible except for a few hours of mandatory meetings/learning sessions/etc every week. I felt I had a great balance of work and free time.
All tasks were related to ongoing projects/initiatives with Tesco
I definitely feel like I have developed a lot of key skills that I’ll be able to use in my future.
The Company
No office because of the pandemic! But the managers did try to have fun activities for us. Obviously we can’t be as social as an office, but clear effort has been made.
It was great, they gave us a detailed schedule with all activities planned in advance. Everything felt well-thought-out.
They gave us lots of opportunities to develop ourselves, such as including learning sessions in the programmes, and also gave us access to more learning opportunities (ex via Learning at Tesco portal). They’ve also explained to us that we can get mentors within Tesco to help us further.
Flexi Time
Working from home
I am definitely considering working with Tesco after graduation!
The Culture
It’s obviously challenging to be social over Zoom but everyone is trying
