    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the virtual experience?
  • It was condensed into a day session, however still provided me with information and gave me insight into the company. However, there wasn’t loads of breaks which meant it seemed quite intense, but this is understandable as it must be hard to fit an 8week internship scheme into an 8 hour day! Every talk was interesting and friendly throughout.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The whole experience was extremely personal. All the way from applying to being offered the internship, I felt valued. This is because the application process was much more ‘human’ than most companies which made you feel actually useful, and not just a an intern for the company to hit a set quota. They showed how a career could develop from the internship and this meant that it definitely felt important and that the internship would be useful and a benefit to both me and the company.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the virtual experience?
  • Everything was very easy to use and I received numerous emails detailing what was happening and what to expect.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Whilst I did not get the full internship experience, the virtual day was useful in giving me insight into the job and therefore helping determine my future career. It definitely has given me good insight into what to expect.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the virtual experience?
  • There was a good balance of talks and Q&A sessions. The talks were enjoyable as it allowed me to listen and gain i formation, however they were relaxing as contributions wasn’t required. The smaller sessions were then a good chance to interact with graduates and ask questions. This provided an excellent balance throughout the day.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your virtual experience?
  • Very good. Everyone I spoke to was extremely friendly. The overall atmosphere was nice and welcoming which was good despite it being over video call.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The day gave me the chance to learn new information about the line of work and gave me a base to do more research into it or develop my own skills to prepare further. I don’t think there was lots more that could be done in a day session.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the virtual experience help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • There were lots of talks which helped me learn about the specific roles and projects. Talking to the recent graduates was really useful to understand what it would be actually like to work at BW, and what the atmosphere and culture would be like there. This was very useful, as the recent graduates gave a good insight into what we actually be doing from graduating as they had recently gone through a similar process to us.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the virtual experience help you in understanding the company culture?
  • I stated it in a previous point but talking to recent graduates really helped determine what the culture was like. In addition, even hearing a partner give a talk and reiterate the culture of the company made me aware of the culture of the company and how it is different to other firms.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Very valuable. It gave me further knowledge into the job which will help me decide whether it is something I want to pursue post university.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • 5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • 5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes, there was lots of information about the social activities that occurred. It reinforced the culture of the company and was interesting to learn more about outside of work activities, as the focus is normally so much on what the actual work is.

  • 15. Would you recommend this virtual experience to a friend?
