    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The placement was great fun! Everyone was very welcoming and never hesitated to answer any of my questions. I've learned a lot during my time there, and look forward to hopefully returning!

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very valued. I was always encouraged to get involved with projects and was never just given the easy tasks. I was treated like a regular employee.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Plenty of guidance. Weekly team meetings meant I always knew what I had to do, and what I could do better at.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Very healthy balance. Some days were slower, others I was in the office late. But overall I felt the balance worked well for me.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility! I worked on multiple tasks that had real world safety applications! It felt amazing knowing I was having a legitimate impact!

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • They will assist greatly. Alongside work, I took part in plenty of training courses provided by the company. These will assist me well in future modules!

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very friendly and open. It was an agile working environment so everyone was always up and about, communicating with each other!

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There were a lot of I.T. issues at the beginning, however once those were ironed out, everything ran smoothly!

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As mentioned previously, I took part in plenty of training. They spent a lot of money investing in me as an engineer! For this I feel my future is only brighter.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    Working from home

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing. However, I really would like to return to the Bristol site. As my main interest lies in defence aerospace!

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • All the interns would meet up regularly. We were all very social and had a great time together.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Derby is very cheap, so living and general expenses were extremely cheap. This worked well for me due to my lower salary.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • A few clubs and bars, but that wasn't of too much interest to me. I am very sporty, so I was normally out running in the evenings.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Plenty. For example, we arranged a 100 mile bike ride for the people in my wider team. This was an incredible experience for me as I'd only ever cycled 15 miles before!

    3/5
