  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My co workers have trusted me with a lot of key tasks. I have taken on a lot of high profile accounts and many responsibilities have been thrust upon me. This has me to push myself and develop further as well as giving me the opportunity to show my colleagues what I am capable of.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My managers and colleagues have been very supportive and I have had a very open and trusting relationship with them. We have bonded well and I can honestly say that I could ask them a question, anytime about anything and they would be more than happy to assist me with it.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Work loads certainly fluctuate. Nonetheless, this is to be expected with any job you take. Sometimes I find that I have a lot of work on and I am under pressure to meet deadlines. However, I enjoy being under pressure. Other times I may find that I have time to fill in the day, this is still useful as I can work on extra things I may not of had time to complete otherwise.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The things I have learnt during this placement will benefit me way beyond my degree or even future job. I have developed a lot of relevant and useful skills as well as a business understanding that I can take back to university and any future job I get. Furthermore, I now have a much better work ethic and find myself more motivated and driven to succeed.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office was great. It is important to make strong relationships with your colleagues and I feel like getting on with the people you work around improves your enjoyment of being in the office. Everyone is very approachable and eager to talk and have a chat which, enhances the working atmosphere.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement scheme was very organised and structured. It has been very clear from the outset what my role has been, how I need to get set up, what working routine I need to find myself becoming accustomed to and we have constant contact with Human Resources regarding any extra curricula things to partake in.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • All the interns, including myself, undertook a series of different training days and seminars to further enhance our skills and business acumen. I believe we had over 10 different training days that were very well run and all very well varied to ensure no repetition and all training days were beneficial.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • With over 40 different interns working in the same building, there was a very strong community feel amongst all the interns. We had an intern meet up day the April before we joined and that was a really good opportunity to break the ice and get to know everyone. We would ordinarily have lunch with each other most days and engage in after work socials as well.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Obviously, working in central London can be quite expensive. Not only to get food for lunch or after work, but also after work drinks are very expensive. By comparison to university, you may need to prepare yourself to spend more money just on a few drinks however, you will be getting paid of course. London travel is not cheap either, but the company offer a travel loan to help you pay for it.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Working in central London means that you are always entertained. Around the corner from where we worked there was a comedy club which we attended a few times. Moreover, there was some lovely rooftop bars in our area (Holborn) and there are so many pubs everywhere too. Only down side is London prices.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, there was many different sporting opportunities that you can take part in with other members of the working community. I tool part in the 7 a side football team which, was great fun. As well as this, we had a cinema in our office, so whenever there was any new release film, we could all go and watch it either during lunch or after work.
