    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I loved my time at WarnerMedia! There have certainly been times where I felt stressed out, but I think that's part of the learning process. The learning opportunities that this company offers are endless, and the company culture is just amazing. Everyone is super friendly and helpful and I would apply to this placement year 100 times again if I could!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was lucky to be part of a diverse team. As a foreign student I was very happy to find people with different nationalities that I could relate to. Everyone is super friendly and treats you as a full-time employee. Even my colleagues from other WarnerMedia teams in the world have always shown a great level of respect for myself and my role in the company.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • This was my first job in an office setting, so I literally had to learn everything from scratch. The managers here are amazing, they make you feel as if there is no right or wrong question/answer. My manager was specifically good at adjusting the level of difficulty for my tasks as I was progressing and developing my professional skills.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Due to the nature of my role, there were times where I was extremely busy and times where everything was quiet. I personally enjoyed this, as it allowed me to test my resilience, but at the same time have weeks to focus on personal development courses or any university placement assignment.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • More than I could have ever imagined! As I mentioned before, this was my first office job, so I'm not sure how much responsibility other companies give to their interns, but I I can say that I wasn't certainly serving coffee! I was trusted multiple times to handle sensitive information, and run full projects.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My university degree is directly related to my role at WarnerMedia. I used to feel very scared of having to write a full dissertation for uni, but through this placement I've acquired great time management and organisation skills that will make it a lot easier to face this new challenge.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in my office was great. Very lively and friendly. The office building itself makes it easy to socialize with employees from different departments, and there are many activities organised to make the working day feel lighter. It varies from team to team, but coffee breaks and small chats are an occurrence.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was very well organised. We received a good amount of information before we started and we also had a handover period to help us adjust to the new role. The placement also offers training courses and opportunities to receive feedback from our manager. At the end of the year we all feel very accomplished.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The placement was very well organised. The learning and development department organizes mandatory courses to help interns develop their skills. Managers are encouraged to set targets for their interns at the beginning of the year, and these are constantly reviewed through feedback sessions. At the end of the placement we are encouraged to explore our future careers through a workshop.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Working from home

    Healthcare/Dental

    Travel loan

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would love to work again at WarnerMedia, however they do not offer a grad scheme. Due to the nature of the business, there are not many job openings for recent graduates. Nevertheless, if you've done a good job during your placement and there is a role to fill, then the hiring managers will certainly remember you.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was, but not for everyone. I think it depends on the intern cohort, and how the group bonds. There were many group outings organised, but they didn't vary much. I've personally enjoyed meeting my fellow interns for lunch (almost every day!) sharing how our day was going etc .

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Central London is extremely expensive, but it is not that hard to find cheaper options for a night out. For example, I've enjoyed walking to Hyde Park after a day at work, and that's free! Even the vast majority of museums are free. Coffee and alcohol are a bit more expensive than what I'm personally used to.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Central London has an amazing nightlife. I love seeing the bars and pubs becoming lively on a Friday after everyone gets off work. There are a lot of restaurant near the office and Soho and Piccadilly/Oxford Circus are just a short walk away. It is also easy to take the tube and go to a different area.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, there were many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work. The company constantly have special speaker events open to all employees, there are film screenings with Q&A with the director, volunteering opportunities, clubs, and on a few occasions we (the interns) were also invited o special workshops.
