The Role
During my time at Microsoft, I feel my skills and understanding of the world of work have developed considerably. At Microsoft, their is a real sense that Early in Career can make a massive contribution to the business, and a constant focus on growing as an individual for your future.
At Microsoft, the culture ensures a great sense of community to any Early in Career, with everyone willing to help you excel within your role and to grow as an individual during your placement year.
Throughout my placement year, I was supported by my manager in terms of finding ways to develop skills that I wanted to focus on, as well as being there to support with any work related issues I faced.
At Microsoft, there is a big emphasis on 'work-life balance' and how it needs to be maintained. As an early in career, the responsibilities in my role were important to the running of the business but it rarely became over-burdening.
My deliverables and aspects within my role were essential to supporting operations within the business, allowing us to develop our roles while understanding the importance of the tasks we were doing.
The placement at Microsoft has taught me invaluable work/life expirences and taught me more than what I was hoping to get out of the year. It was truly a rewarding and unforgettable experience.
The Company
The office fluctuates in capacity due to many employees travelling to customers etc but everyone was always welcoming and nice to speak too
The internship was organised well, with support from the HR team to ensure we were kept up to date with goings on and in the changing landscape towards the end of year, this was extremely valuable.
At Microsoft, the culture fosters a growth mindset, developing yourself as an individual and understanding that its okay to not know the answer. With my expirences, my manager was open to me learning new skills and highly supportive. The HR team also provided workshops to grow our career skills for future employment.

The Culture
As we had a large community, I met many new people and friends. As a community we organised many social events to grow as a community.
Due to being just outside of London, Reading can be quite an expensive place to live & socialise as an early in career.
As Reading is a uni town, there is a good nightlife and you are close to London for more formal events.
There were local clubs to be a part of, as well as the university close by.
