    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed the virtual insight at Goldman Sachs. I felt the sessions provided gave me a strong insight into the industry as well as the company and cemented my ambition to work at the firm. We were given numerous insights into all divisions at the firm as well as being provided a 'buddy'.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • We each had a 'buddy' who was an analyst at the firm. They gave us mentoring throughout the weeks as well as setting a project which we had to present to them at the end. This gave us an opportunity to research a particular area of finance and get feedback.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • We had numerous Zoom calls with our buddies and they introduced us to other people in the firm to talk about their roles. We were very well supported.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The insight meant that I now know which area of finance I would like to get into. We spoke to many people in different roles so we could see where we are most likely to be suited. I feel more confident going forward in my career as a result of the insight.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • It was well structured. I was given a days notice before an event (which was not mandatory). We then signed up to the events which were of interest and received a link in good time for the event. The sessions rarely overran and there was a good amount of time for the Q&A sessions.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was really positive. Everyone in the firm seemed to really enjoy their roles and were welcoming and happy to answer questions. H&R were accommodating and friendly. We were encouraged to communicate with our peers and maintain relations. Overall, the atmosphere of GS came across well, with an emphasis on how hard working everyone is.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • All the sessions provided both by our 'buddies' and the HR team gave an in depth insight into the roles carried out by the speakers. We were encouraged to reach out to speakers who interested us. I think all my questions about the roles were answered clearly. I feel like I have a much clearer understanding following the insight.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The company culture came through clearly. The speakers conveyed a culture that was welcoming but also very hardworking. It was clear everyone employed was very driven and this was crucial to doing well at the company. Welfare seemed a priority too. I thought the culture came through very positively throughout the insight.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I now have a clear understanding of the areas which interest me and which areas I will apply to in the future. The speakers highlighted both the positive and more difficult aspects of their work which gave an honest insight and therefore enabled us to decide on the path we wish to follow.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Networking opportunities were more limited than they would have been if the event wasn't virtual. We were given a 'buddy' who put us in contact with other people at the firm which gave an opportunity to connect with them. However, networking opportunities were somewhat limited due to the nature of the insight.

    4/5
