About You
I enjoyed the programme overall. Unfortunately, the timing was terrible and it clashed with exams meaning that a lot of people couldn't fully take part, a great shame considering the application process we had to go through. But it was good to virtually meet employees and my fellow interns through zoom
I do not feel that as much effort that could be put into the programme was, therefore, I did not feel that valued. More definitely could have been achieved with the capabilities of modern technology. The people that did take part gave up their time, I am grateful for their contribution but expected more.
Not much, HR didn't respond to emails I sent them to ensure I got the most out of the experience, which is a shame. They had a HR question session in smaller groups, but it wasn't division specific, therefore some of my questions couldn't be answered. The buddy system was good to get to know different roles in the firm from an insiders perspective
As the programme was virtual, I am assuming a lot of planned sessions were scrapped, which is a shame. The zoom sessions were mostly just a brief introduction to each division. There was no opportunity to develop our skills. Sessions that used current news was helpful to see it from a business perspective.
The Company
Unfortunately, the timing clashed with exams so I could not make the most of the programme. Again, the structure was changed due to the circumstances. The normal programme seems very informative, however, virtually there was a lot less to do and not as many opportunities to interact and learn. What was included was informative but I expected more.
Great atmosphere overall, employees were friendly and responsive to emails. My fellow interns were good too. We had photo-sharing activities which were nice to show our creative side and personality. Sadly we couldn't all meet in real life but I am hoping to continue developing relationships I have begun to form.
We didn't have the opportunity to have training and development sessions. We are getting paid and people gave up a lot of their time so I really appreciate that investment. I was able to learn things I didn't know before which I can do more research into and it can help with my future.
We had the opportunity to talk to employees and they told us about their role, what they do and the hours they work, so I understood from that. There was a junior panel to hear more about the new joner experience. Unfortunately, we didn't do any case studies or work shadowing because of the circumstances to be able to learn more.
We had a small amount of time after each session to ask the employees questions which was useful to understand the company's culture and the type of people who work for the firm. We also learnt about the philanthropy the frim which was a good insight into their giving culture and how they help society.
Rather than being division specific like originally planned, the programme was now more general. This was good to learn about jobs that I was not aware existed but it meant I didn't get the in-depth insight into my preferred division that I wanted. We had a buddy though, so they were able to answer some of the questions I had
