    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The insight opportunity was an incredible experience to get to understand the many divisions across Goldman Sachs, and how they work together to form One Goldman Sachs. I received incredible mentorship, not only from my assigned buddy, but also the many people that I was able to network with virtually.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt very valued during my time as a Spring Intern at Goldman Sachs. Any piece of work that I completed for a desk was looked at in close detail, and I received very helpful feedback to help me to improve and learn further. The time dedicated to me was incredible.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I received a lot of guidance and support during this insight. The recruiters organised virtual office hours, in order to provide us with the opportunity to ask any questions we had. I also had more personal questions that I wanted to discuss, and the recruiters made time to call me individually.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I was able to develop my skills far beyond what I have studied in school. I am currently studying finance, which meant I had the underlying knowledge to apply to the trading strategies I was taught. I was able to interpret the markets using the information that they gave to me.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was very well structured. We had an information session about a different area of the firm every other day of the week. These were made to be optional, so that students who were unable to attend due to conflicting exams did not feel stressed or pressure. We had structured recruiter office hours, as well as times to meet with our buddy.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The general atmosphere was very positive. Despite many sessions taking place via zoom, many students were able to connect with me via Linkedin, as they received my name after I asked a question. Everyone was so lovely in messaging me, and complimenting me on the questions that I asked to the speakers.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company invested a lot in helping my personal training and development. The employees in particular dedicated their time and knowledge to me, helping me by guiding me to research different topic areas that could help me for future internships. The feedback i received after doing this work was incredible.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The insight really helped me to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with Goldman Sachs. Many of the employees that I spoke to explained their full time role to me, as well as how to navigate the summer internship to receive a full time role.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight really helped me to understand the Goldman Sachs culture. Something that was stressed in particular was the notion of One Goldman Sachs, which is where all of the divisions work together in order to serve every need of their clients. I particularly loved how they stressed the collaborative nature of Goldman Sachs.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I had very valuable content for deciding my future career path. I was able to hear about the different options for careers within finance, which helped me to determine whether the division I was currently placed in was right for me, which I ultimately decided was the case in fact.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were many opportunities for networking and meeting other employees. I was able to reach out to the people who spoke in panels to ask further questions, and they were able to connect me with other members of the firm. This was particularly helpful and easy to do, even in the virtual setting that we had.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The networking events were particularly great. My favourite of these was the recruiter virtual office hours, as this gave us the opportunity to speak in very small settings about the culture of Goldman Sachs and ask any questions that we had. Social events were unfortunately not possible, due to the quarantine, but we were able to virtually interact through group chats.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • There are many activities that employees can get involved in outside of work. In particular, Goldman employees stressed the social impact opportunities, with the 10,000 small businesses, 10,000 women and Analyst Social Impact Fund. This allows employees, even at such a young level in the firm, to take initiative in charitable activities.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend.
