    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed a variety of different aspects of the job. The offices were amazing and the environment was very friendly and open. The work was very interesting and engaging, I was rarely ever bored and always had things to do. Sometimes the work does get quite stressful, however the end goals are always worth it and there is additional help if needed.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very valued by my colleagues and really became part of a team. My team members were lovely and treated me as an actual assistant brand manager rather than a placement student.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager adopted a 'you learn by doing' strategy which I really felt developed my skills in proactivity and learning from my mistakes. Sometimes there would be moments where I would be confused and not ask questions as I felt everyone was too busy, however this is not the case and you should always ask questions if something is concerning or confusing you.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was very busy. There is always work to do and always a next step in a project or product.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility over my own projects and activities which definitely made me feel like more than just an intern. I had to report and summarise my projects in weekly updates with management to ensure I was on track, this is very useful considering this is how we would act if I were joining as an actual ABM.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I have learnt have taught me more skills and experience than I thought possible. I will be taking a new look on time management, proactivity, extra curricular activities and establishing a work life balance moving forward.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was very open and friendly 9 times out 10. There was always small chat in the office to keep you going throughout the day, however there will be days where everyone is too busy to chat and it can get quite stressful.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The work placement set up is pretty good. I was fortunate enough to have my IP stay an additional two weeks which really gave me a leg up in understanding my projects and the roles I would be taking over. It would be good to be made aware of where we would be positioned earlier on - and also maybe a bi-monthly check in from HR.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There were many online modules and courses to use which definitely helped in growth beyond just the job title. I also attended workshops and consumer learning days which were fun and engaging.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Working from home

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • This job is definitely something I could see myself pursuing in the future due to its benefits and being familiar with the role now.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Very good social scene, everyone was super open and friendly which definitely helps when you're moving to a new city alone. Lots of social events whilst the summer placement students are there - make the most of those times!! It starts to go quieter as the year goes on and you establish stronger friendships.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Renting in London is quite steep, and once the additional tax came in in the second half of placement it started to get harder. It is manageable, but be wise with your spending and try to keep a small reserve just in case. Socialising was equally as expensive due to costly bars and pubs.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Nightlife was amazing and super accessible given the ease of transport (tubes, uber, etc.) - very fun time but can be expensive.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Not really, but because I was so busy with work I didn't really look for additional activities.

    2/5
