    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my time at J.P. Morgan, everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful during my time. The campus recruitment team organised a range of very enjoyable socials and events throughout the internship and the work I did was meaningful and interesting. The environment is a collaborative and enjoyable one to work in.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt extremely value by my colleauges as I worked in a group of interns with our own small project. The project we were working on was something that the team would actually use and they gave us feedback on and requirements for. Furthermore, the outcome of the project was something which could potentiallly be used in the wider company.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given lots of support by my manager and mentor throughout the internship. We had a colleauge who gave us daily support on work we were doing as well as feedback and helping to nudge us in the right direction. Furthermore, I had weekly meetings with my manager on work I had done throughout the week.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • For almost all of the internship we had lots do with our project work, meetings, scrum calls, planning, presentations and other activities such as presentations from other people in the company during innovation week. For the most part we had lots do be doing throughout the day but near the end of the internship it seemed there wasn't a lot of concrete tasks to be doing so we spent a lot of time self learning other skills.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • We were given lots of responsibility to decide how to plan our project, gather requirements and prioritise the features we wanted to include as well as plan our own milestones and weekly schedules. There was a lot of responsibility in deciding how we wanted the project ot progress throughout the internship.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Throughout my internship we were working on a project in Java which I had never programmed in before. So this was an amazing opportunity for me to learn Java programming and other skills such as writting tests, sprint planning, scrum calls and other useful software development skills. This skills will be invaluable going forward in my career in technology.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was extremely relaxed and friendly in my office. Everyone was happy to have the interns and always happy to talk or answer questions. People seemed to get on well all the time and I never felt like there was a bad atmosphere in the office. Everyone was generally friendly and always working on interesting things.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • For the most part the internship was exteremely well organised with the project from my manager and working with other interns in the team as well as activities from the campus recruitment team such as presentations and networking events. The only things to note is that it seemed that some aspects of the project near the end of the internship could have been organised better to ensure we had things to do.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm invested lots into us in terms of training and development. We had plenty of training courses to complete as well as many, many learning resources available to us on the firms online learning hub. We had access to sites such as pluralsight where we could learn an array of technology skills all for free.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Of course J.P. Morgan is one of the most prestigious companies to work for and the whole point of the internship is to see if you are a good fit for the company and also to see if the company is a good fit for you. I was lucky enough to receive a full time offer.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
