    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I found the insight really interesting, I learned a lot and was surprised by some of the business areas which I had not previously considered. I thought the presenters were welcoming and gave a good impression of the firm. I enjoyed it very much and I thought it was organised very well.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt valued during the insight week as many of my questions were asked and the responses to them were very thorough and honest. We were encouraged to ask as many questions as we could. Everyone that spoke during the insight and everyone I have subsequently reached out to gave the impression that the firm really values everyone no matter their experience.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I was very pleased with the amount of support we received. Firstly, we were given training resources via Fitch Learning which gave an overview of key concepts and areas within the bank before we started. We also received advice on how to network and reach out to people that gave presentations.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel much more confident now in understanding different areas of the bank before applying for a summer internship. I believe the knowledge I gained throughout the insight week will give me more confidence going forwards in my career for example I will utilise the information learned in the training resources, networking advice and my improved understanding of the divisions within the bank in the future.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • I thought the insight was very well structured. The programme ran to schedule with plenty of time factored in for Q&A sessions. None of the sessions I attended had been rushed and each speaker gave a detailed overview of their role. All communications from HR were clear and given in advance of the programme.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • I thought the general atmosphere was very good. It was nice to be able to see many of the other students through the webcam and everyone from the bank that spoke was friendly and very interesting. Questions were encouraged which made me feel engaged in the sessions and the general atmosphere across the bank seemed to be very positive.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm invested in me with a well organised schedule given despite the change to the programme at short notice due to offices closing. They provided me with learning resources to go through before the insight week and encouraged further communications with them. They have also been very good at sending information and making sure we all understand.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I think the insight really helped my understanding of what a full time role will entail. I was able to get an overview of many different areas of the bank and then decide which I believed would I am best suited to. We were able to ask many questions which were answered honestly.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Although I wasn't in the office, I grasped a sense of the culture through the presentations from people working at the bank. Everyone spoke of their experiences and their own perceptions of the bank which helped form my opinion of the culture. The honesty that was given when answering questions shows that the culture was positive.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The content was very helpful as I gained an understanding of many different areas which before I had very little knowledge of. It meant that I have found different areas which I am interested in pursuing a career and my perceptions of several areas have changed to how they were before the programme.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was not paid for the experience as it was an insight programme however all my expenses are going to be reimbursed and my accomodation would have been provided before the insight week was made to be virtual as a result of COVID-19. The provided accommodation would have been within walking distance of the office.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • As it was a virtual event, networking and social opportunities were no longer possible. However, we were encouraged to reach out to our peers and also to follow up with speakers who we found particularly interesting. We were also encouraged to use our webcams to meet the rest of the class virtually.

  • As it was a virtual event, planned networking and social opportunities were no longer possible. However, we were encouraged to reach out to our peers and also to follow up with speakers who we found particularly interesting. We were also encouraged to use our webcams to meet the rest of the class virtually.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • We learned about how the work-life balance is managed at Morgan Stanley and how they encourage charity work as well as ensuring everyone takes rests to help their mental health. It was encouraging that there seemed to be a wide range of activities that people participated in outside of the office including many social activities with their teams.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would definitely recommend this insight as I found the information really useful and it has helped to grow my knowledge of the industry. It is also useful to experience the ethos of the firm and understand what it is like to work there. I really enjoyed the whole experience.
